Someone’s got to teach LA the Heimlich manoeuvre, ‘cos they just keep on choking. Yet another blown save. Angels 6-0 for the season. Padres one game ahead in the NL West.
![]() At this rate, LA won’t even make the finals. Their relief is shithouse. And with Tanner Scott, their closer, leading MLB with 7 BSV, I don’t know how they are getting out of this rut. |

![]() ![]() But I guess it doesn't matter, it'll be San Angeles in 7 years anyway. ![]() I've been watching the Dodgers long enough not to be surprised by stuff like this. I remember we had an ongoing joke growing up that even scoring 11 runs in an inning, they'll still find a way to blow it by 1 run. Quote:
Ok I lied. I curse and yell a the TV, actually. ![]() But how about gifting fans with a sweep of the Padres and end up 2 games up in the division (or technically 3 if it comes to a tie break with the Padres), only to turn around and lose to what was a 35 win team prior to Monday night?!! The silver lining at least is the Padres loss the same night, but it was to the stinking Giants. But lesser of 2 evils at the moment to maintain the standings, I guess. Actually that was their former name. I was more of a fan back then. I miss the Rod Carew, Bryan Downing, Bobby Grich (and others) days... and even Reggie Jackson showed up for a bit. But that was long before I became a crusty ol' crab who only roots for 1 team now in Southern Cali lol.

All good. My father was born in Brooklyn but grew up a Yankees fan. He still never referred to the Dodgers as being from Los Angeles. Always the Dodgers from Brooklyn..heh. His sister rooted for the Dodgers. Daggone sibling rivalry.

I had the opposite experience, my sis and I are both Dodgers fans, since we were kids. She was the "we" that I was referencing about that ongoing joke about blowing leads from double-digit runs. These days I just get an emoji text from her when some crap happens. Had quite of a few of them of late obviously. Sigh... But gotta give it up to the Yanks. Great franchise. They're the one team/rivalry that doesn't bother me to lose to. The first 2 world series I saw as a kid was the back to back Dodgers loss to them I think '77 and '78? Sure I was happy with last year's results ![]() Last edited by red_5ive; 08-20-2025 at 01:55 AM. |

Every year that passes, networks are making it far more difficult to be a sports fan.
I like being able to quickly change to something else, cable tv has offered that viewing experience for the better part of almost a half century and here we are with "Technology" that is suppose to elevate your viewing experience, and it doesn't imo. In fact most times you are met with network issues and decreased picture and sound quality! God forbid if there is another sport on that you also want to keep tabs on and switching between apps or even cable tv and apps is an absolute hassle! |

This is why I hate sports betting... yet I admit I continue to do, for the benefit of making money... which hasn't been the case.
I bet a parlay today, pitcher strikeouts. Luis Castillo of Seattle needed 3 or more strikeouts. Odds were -800. Framber Valdez of Houston also needed 3 or more strikeouts. Odds were -1700. I had four other pitchers needing similar, and they all did well. But these two knuckleheads, heavily favored to do what I would call the bare minimum, can't even do just that. No accountability. Just another lost bet. Can't catch a break! |
