Couple amazing Yankee facts I heard on Sportscenter this morning:

Last night was the first time ever Mariano had given up back-to-back home runs.

Two opposing teams have had six home run games at new Yankee Stadium this year. Twice in the last 50 years had opposing teams had six home run games in old Yankee Stadium.

I'm going to be curious how Hank Steinbrenner handles the situation if they Yankees keep up their poor play. George probably would have fired Girardi by now. I think Hank almost feels like he needs Girardi to succeed since he forced out Torre and has publicly badmouthed his talent as a manager, saying he was a nobody before he came to New York. Now Torre is managing the team with the best record in baseball and made the NLCS last year while the Yankees are struggling and missed the playoffs last year. Still, if they are 8 games out in July I've got to think a change will happen.

Why are people upset about a guy getting caught for performance enhancing drugs? He shouldn't be allowed to play. Ever again. I thought they had implmented Zero Tolerance? That would have been a perfect way to send a message. KICK HIM OUT.

I heard some of that this morning, too. Another one was, I think, Andy Pettitte had never given up 4 homers in one game until now. 13 HRs in Yankee Stadium at this time last year, up to 31 now.

Sox set a record last night as well, a AL record for the most runs scored in one inning without an out. They got 12 of 'em against Cleveland last night.

Well the zero tolerance means you don't get off with a warning the first time.

The baseball has more of a three-strikes rule (haha, what a great pun).

1st offense: 50 game suspension
2nd offense: 100 game suspension
3rd offense: find a new career/bye-bye

If George were in charge, he wouldn't fire Girardi yet. He'd start saying stuff to the media about Girardi's job not being safe, and then kind of dangle him by that threat for a few weeks/months.

I like Torre more than Girardi, but I think Torre's managing ability is a little over-rated. Some people say a monkey with a line-up card, and the 96-2000 Yankees roster could've won just as many World Series. I wouldn't go that far, but it's not like Torre wasn't working with one of the most dominant rosters in MLB history.

The NL West has been a horrible division for the last several years. That's the same division that the Padres won a few years ago with a .506 winning percentage. The Dodgers won it last year with a .519. Despite his managing prowess, the '08 Dodgers under Torre only won 2 more games than the Grady Little Dodgers of '07.

Good thing Ortiz was out of the line-up, he definitely would have made the first out very early

Interesting stuff... so much for the fast start for the Dodgers. This will hurt them.
I don't believe how cruel people are being to Ms. Ramirez. Who are we to condemn her for wanting a child?

But a team doctor wouldn't have prescribed the steroids that required the hCG to kick-start the natural testosterone production, in the first place.

What a way to mark your return to the team.

Someone else said it best, but I'll steal their line:

No-way-Rod!

(If that makes no sense to you, I'll explain it... A-Rod made his big return to the Yankees tonight, and HR'ed in his first at-bat).

Yeah he did that at spring training as well.

Poor Orioles... didn't help themselves by walking 2 batters before A-Rod either! Walks kill!

Curtis Granderson made the top play of the year in tonights game vs. the Indians. He robbed Grady Sizemore of a game winning walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth. Tigers ended up winning 1-0.

lol our top 3 guys for sp would on any good team be 3-5 starters...

Guth made the worst pitch to aRod. But mad props for crushing it out first pitch of the first at bat, that was nice.

Rays are climbing up there pretty quickly now.

Going to be a VERY tough AL East again with likley 4 teams battling it out all season.

lol I KNO!, I feel like when they do get those scores they get over inflated like thats what they expect to get every game and its ok eaton gave up 2 hr's and 4 hits in 5.0 innings.

I feel like their two main issues are limited to no hitting beyond roberts, jones, markakis, (some times mora, scott and huff are ok but not consistent like other teams.)

And second really no pitching like I've stated b4 I feel like if you put Guthrie, Uehara, Mark Hendrickson, Adam Eaton, Brad Bergesen on any quality staff all would be fighting to make the team/ try to battle for 3-5

lol Its funny to listen to our announcers they always feel like this is it this is the O's team and then next week when they slump hit they say I can't figure it out 11 on the yanks lol.

Yeah I know how you feel... back in 2005 and 2006 the Jays had the bats and no pitching, then it was all pitching in 2007 and 2008 with no bats. Finally this year we somehow have both... which is funny when we only have 1 starter with more than 2 seasons of experience.

and see what happens with balance #1 lol I just wish they'd bring some of these guys up let m go with no pressure see who pans out and see who doesn't instead of saying well in 2-3 years we'll be the ray's all that could collapse if it doesn't pan out perfect.

As of Saturday, Evan Longoria had 44 RBIs. 20 of those were in the first nine days of May, and 21 of them were against the Red Sox.
