Getting rid of Chien is most definatly a good change for the Yankees. With a rotation of Sabbathia, Burnett, Pettite, Chamberlain and Vasquez the last thing they need is Chien Ming Wang stinking it up with his 9.64 ERA. Look at it this way, at least your team is making changes that will aid the team for the future, too bad I can't say the same about the Tribe.

Kinda hard to not pitch bad when you have the injuries he had... I don't think anyone can argue that when he was healthy and in his zone he was a top pitcher in the game and thats when they had a jumbled rotation add a 19 game winner to what they had now. I get not wanting to pay him, but to say he's not even worth keeping around for a chance that he could find it again is crazy.

That's a good point. Chien was very good and had that 19 win season. It's a shame he got injured and lost his momentum.

Two 19 win seasons Yeah I mean he could be done like prior and wood, but to take the stance that it isn't even worth trying to see if he can recover that just doesn't make sense to me

Could you imagine had he not gotten hurt and only progressed! with what they have now

Interesting document on the Dodgers future plans via the owners divorce. The Dodgers plan to cut their payroll from $132 million to $107 million this year, despite the fact that revenue is expected to grow. This isn't a temporary plan either, as they plan to decrease their payroll from 42% of revenue in 2007 to 25% in 2013, and keep it at 25% through 2018. Commissioner Bud Selig wants clubs to spend about 50% of revenue on players salaries. They also plan to increase ticket prices from an average of $29.40 in 2007 to $53.50 in 2018. This document was prepared in May in a bid to attract Chinese investors and was months before the owners filed for divorce so it appears they had planned all along to cut expenses.

Well once fans see it that ballpark will be empty, I'd be really angry if they jacked the price up and the product on the field went down.

On that note 9 DAYS till the first O's spring training game

I just wish extra innings did the spring training games I love spring training lol.

Default Aaron Boone Retires

For Aaron Boone, Tuesday signaled the formal end to his playing career and, at the same time, the launch of his role as an analyst of the game he played for 12 major league seasons.

Boone announced his retirement from Major League Baseball and will debut as part of ESPN's "Baseball Tonight" panel starting in March. He also will make select appearances on ESPN as a game analyst.

"It is with a sense of pride, sadness, and enthusiasm that I formally announce my retirement after 16 years of professional baseball," Boone said. "It has been a privilege and honor to have played in the major leagues for 12 seasons for six different clubs.

"While it's tough to leave the game as a player, I am eager to start my next career with my new team at ESPN. I am very grateful that I'll be able to stay in the game as an ESPN analyst and work with people who share the same passion for baseball that I do."

Boone's last games in the majors were played for the Houston Astros -- he was activated in September just five months after having open-heart surgery. He played in 10 games for Houston. He is believed to be the first player to return to the major leagues after having open-heart surgery.

Boone, who played every infield position during his career, spent his first six-plus seasons with the Cincinnati Reds. In 2003, he was dealt to the New York Yankees at the trade deadline, and his career-defining moment came in the old Yankee Stadium in the form of an 11th-inning, Game 7 of the 2003 AL Championship Series that lifted New York past the Boston Red Sox and into the World Series.

"As a player, Aaron was a tremendous competitor known for one of baseball's most dramatic postseason walk-off home runs," said Jay Levy, senior coordinating producer for ESPN. "He offers an important perspective, being recently removed from the game and having deep baseball roots, which will make him a great addition to our team."

Boone, who turns 37 on March 9, had his best season in 2003, when he was an All-Star and combined to hit 24 home runs and 96 RBIs and bat .267 for Cincinnati and the Yankees. He also played for the Cleveland Indians, Florida Marlins and Washington Nationals.

The Boone family has produced three generations of big-league talent -- former All-Star third baseman Ray Boone (Aaron's grandfather), former All-Star catcher and manager Bob Boone (father) and retired All-Star second baseman Bret Boone (brother).

Us Yankee fans will always revere Boone for THIS one special moment. To me, it was one of those "I remember where I was when..." events.

Ya..Boone will always be immortalized in Yankees history for that one moment. I remember that game very fondly. My father was fed up and shut it off and I continued to watch as the Yanks tied it and we went to extra innings. I told him to turn it back on and it was just in time for the lovely shot to left field.

We celebrated together and it was great. You live for games such as those. As you know, the Yanks didn't do so well in '04. And that was the downfall of crap until last season.

Pudge Compares Strasburg to Nolan

Upon Stephen Strasburg’s first bullpen session Nyjer Morgan dubbed him “Jesus” (because that’s the first thing you say when seeing him throw).

Upon his second Pudge Rodriguez compared him to Nolan Ryan, whom Pudge caught in 1991-93. No pressure, kid. [Thomas Boswell]

They faced him in the World Series. Barring injuries, I honestly don't think the Yankees will end up using him much.

Are there still some good free agents on the market that the Yanks could add ?

Why not? They both proved to be at least as effective as Park, if not more. I guess it doesn't hurt to add another arm though.

I wouldn't expect them to make any more significant signings.
