The thing is the Cubs starting pitchers are doing amazing. They are 5-8, but only 2 of the losses went to starting pitchers. The Cubs had absolutely no expectations for Carlos Silva, they took on his massive contract so the Mariners would take Milton Bradley, but he has been great, 1-0 with a 0.69 ERA. Randy Wells has been one of the most underrated pitchers since being called up in the middle of last year, but he almost never gets run support and the bullpen always blows his games. Zambrano is the only starter that is struggling, but even he is doing better since his poor first start.

I am more disappointed in the offense than the bullpen. I knew what I was getting into with the BP but the offense outside of that 4 game stretch last week has been horrible.

After last night I definitely agree with you. The excuse you could give for the Cubs bullpen is it's a bunch of cheap players, but there's no excuse for their huge money offense. 3 runs in the last 2 games is just horrible. Nobody is hitting well, and there's not much that can be done. They've got so much money wrapped up in Soriano, Carlos Zambrano, and Aramis Ramirez that they don't have a lot of flexibility in their payroll.

Its like the Orioles minus the bad starting rotation besides Matusz.

I am still holding out hope for a Colorado Rockie of last year type turn around for the Cubs but it doesn't look good. The only bright spot is over the last 10 years or so in MLB there have been teams that have turned it around to make miraculous runs. The 03 Marlins, 04/05 Astros, 09 Rockies are some examples I can think of where teams were dead in the water and turned it around. The constant in those is all except one(05 Astros) fired their manager before the turnarounds.

Yep, when people get on arod around here I say if you hate arod for that then you have to hate Tejada, Roberts, and Palmeiro, and the same can be said for other teams.
