I think it's ok, yes. It's no different than a pitcher retaliating for his teammate, by hitting someone on the other team. It's how the game polices itself.

The catcher ended up getting the crappier end of the deal, but I doubt Teix was intending to give the guy a concussion.

And if he's batting .117, maybe the Angels shouldn't be afraid of him, and shouldn't try to back him off the plate.

I don't think he's concerned about his batting average, because he always starts slow. It was true before he was a Yankee, it was true last year, and it's true again this year.

He was going to be safe by a mile! The Angel's catcher wasn't guarding the plate like a poster mention earlier!

I think it only looks dirty in hindsight, on the replays, but in real time it looks fine, and both managers are fine with it, so...

In slow-mo replays, we have the benefit of seeing the ball bounce away from the catcher, and that Teix would've clearly been safe. But the ball beat Teix to the plate, and in real time, in Teix's situation, I think you have to assume the catcher is going to make the catch, and try to get you out.

And the catcher is clearly trying to prevent the run. He may not be on the 3rd base side of the plate, but he definitely rotates toward Teix right before they hit. It's not like Teix hit him from behind.

Kemp will be in MVP consideration at the end of the year, right next to Pujols.

... Poor kid can go 6-7 innings consistently and they expect him to finish every game.

Interesting situation in the rubber-game of the Angels/Yankees series.

Top of the 2nd, Cano leads off.

Kazmir is on the mound for the Halos.

1st pitch - high and inside, Cano has to jump back
2nd pitch - hits Cano in the back

Neither I nor the Yankee commentators can figure out why Kazmir or the Angels are mad at Cano. Because he had 4 hits yesterday? Who knows. If they're retaliating against the Yankees in general, and not Cano specifically, it's weird to hit someone to start off an inning.

Anyway, next batter up is Posada.

1st pitch - HR over the CF wall

-Marcus Thames needs a tighter helmet. In one inning, his helmet fell off multiple times.

-Francisco Cervelli is playing again today (he's batting .500, so I guess they want to use him while he's hot)... and he seems to like the jumbo-sized helmets (made famous by David Wright last season, see below)

Congrats to David Price, for throwing his first career complete game shutout!

Rays take yet another series, with a 6-0 win over the Jays and taking the series 2 of 3! The Rays improve to 14-5 on the season and have the best record in the MLB!

Now, bring on the A's!

Cubs offense finally got going this weekend with a sweep of the Brewers. They outscored the Brewers 25-4 in the series, after the Brewers had just finished a sweep of the Pirates by a total of 36-1.

My dream was shattered yesterday. I was hoping the Yankees would win every series for the entire season. But they stopped at 5.

Vasquez hasn't looked too good in any of his starts this year, but hopefully he comes around.

I'm not sure why the Yankees can't pitch properly to Morales. Friday night, Joba hung a slider right over the plate in the 8th inning, and Morales crushed it over the wall to give the Angels the lead (and eventually, the win).

Yesterday, 7th inning, runners on the corners, 3-0 count to Morales. At that point, just put him on base, and go after the next guy. Right? Nope. Throw a fastball over the plate, and watch him crush it over the CF wall. A 1-run game became a 4-run game, and it was pretty much over from there.

Oh well. I hate off-days. Yankees go to the White House today.
