Gotta admit...when I first heard someone threw a perfect game I thought WOW! Then I heard it was this guy....and I'm no A-Rod or Yankee fan!

No disrespect of course but would be nice if everyone remembered that every team has it's dark days. And i'm talking about the band wagon fans, not the true Yankee fans.

A Yankee fan talking about another fan base being cocky. That is funny.

Whoa, whoa. Guys, what's up with the all the fan bashing and generalizing lately? When has this Sox fan said anything cocky on here? All fan bases have jerks, the masses are asses.

You live in Iowa, so I wouldnt expect you to know anything about the Yankee/Red Sox rivalry. Thanks for chiming in, though.

Cal's football team will be playing their home games at the Giants' AT&T Park in 2011 while their stadium is remodeled. That could be interesting since unlike some other stadiums that have been used by football and baseball teams this was purely designed as a baseball stadium. Bleachers will be added in the outfield and the stadium will hold around 45,000 fans. The capacity for baseball games is about 41,500.

Though he may be 40 years old now, sometimes "The Kid" needs to sleep.

Griffey
Griffey

Seattle Mariners star Ken Griffey Jr. missed a chance to enter an unspecified game last week as a pinch hitter because he was asleep in the clubhouse, according to a report from the Tacoma News Tribune.

When pressed following the game as to why he had not used the left-handed slugger as a pinch hitter, Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu was evasive.

But according to two unnamed younger Seattle players who are both fond of Griffey, the future Hall of Famer had fallen asleep.

"He was asleep in the clubhouse," one player told the Tribune. "He'd gone back about the fifth inning to get a jacket and didn't come back. I went back in about the seventh inning -- and he was in his chair, sound asleep."

The second player, who is reported to know Griffey better, claims the scuffling slugger has had difficulty sleeping at home.

"He doesn't sleep well at night, he's away from his family, he's comfortable in the clubhouse," he told the Tribune. "They could have awakened him."

Griffey is batting .208 with just five RBIs for a last-place Mariners club that has struggled mightily in trying to get runs across the plate this season.

Supposedly the Mariners are going to release him soon. Hopefully he does the right thing and hangs it up. Sleeping in the clubhouse during a game? This is just getting sad.

I would hope Griffey retires rather than gets released. It'd just be kind of sad for the Mariners to cut their most popular player ever. I wouldn't be surprised if the Mariners offer to pay him his full salary but let him call it a retirement. I can't imagine he'd try to catch on with another team, and I don't think another team would take him, even if the Mariners paid his full salary.

I hope Garret Anderson retires as well. He's just looking awful with the Dodgers.

The main reason the M's signed Griffey was so he could retire as a Mariner and provide clubhouse leadership one last season for the young guys. If the young guys are seeing him bat .200 and catching him dozing off in the clubhouse during games he's pretty much useless.

It wouldn't be the first football game played at AT&T Park! AT&T Park was home of the San Francisco Demons of the XFL back in 2001! Also, it was home of the East-West Shrine game, San Francisco Redwoods of the UFL in 2009 and the Emerald Bowl!

Well I did grow up in Florida but when I first started watching baseball in the mid to late 80's we had no Florida baseball teams. All we had was the Braves on TV for most of my youth, which is the team I latched on to. Ya, I even rooted for them when they were losing 100 games each year in the brutal 80's...

I like to see any Florida pro teams do well. But I just never really got into our baseball teams due to their short existance.

I was also a Braves fan when I was young because of TBS and no FL team(s) until 1998 when the Devil Rays were born!

My first Devil Ray game, was there first ever win in their franchise's history! (They lost to the Tigers in the home opener, went to the second game)

Actual numbers mean nothing to them. There will always be an excuse (in this case "well... so what?! NYC is HUGE!", or something like that).

There's no denying that there are bandwagon Yankee fans, but that happens with all teams, so what can you do?

There are just as many bandwagon Red Sox fans from about 2003 onward as there were Yankees bandwagoners from the late 90s.

But how many teams have fans like these?: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bleacher_Creatures

Although I guess if someone hates the Yankees, they'll probably hate the Bleacher Creatures too.

Ya, the Florida teams have a short but solid history or winning thus far. The Marlins already have two World Series win, including their beat down of the Yankees in 2003 which was amusing given the Marlins tiny payroll that year. Rays already made it to a World Series.
