Aramis has 2 hits today, bring his average up to .169. It's his first multi-hit game since opening day. I have no idea how he hasn't been benched, or why he's still hitting in the 5 spot.

I was just about to post this!

He is still young, so I wouldn't worry about it! (25 years old) It's just a mental thing! I remember when he was with the Braves! He was traded because of McCann to TX for Mark Teixeira and a couple of prospects!

Huge win for the Pirates here. After being dismantled by the Reds, the Buccos come back and deliver against the Cubs. Pittsburgh is 4-0 against the Cubs this year. Great to see Cutch and Jones breakout in a game.

Three runs in one inning and Zambrano's ERA is 7.07 WTF has happened to that guy? Aside from his ballooning waistline that is.

Cubs have had very poor luck with their studs on the mound in recent years...Prior and Wood fall to injuries, and now Zambrano is just embarrassing out there. I really like Gorzelanny, but he didn't look good tonight.

Quote:
The Tampa Bay Rays designated Pat Burrell for assignment before Saturday's game against Seattle and selected the contract of infielder Hank Blalock from Triple-A Durham.

Burrell has struggled since signing with the Rays before the start of the 2009 season. The designated hitter hit just .202 with two homers and 13 RBIs in 24 games this season.

Willy Aybar has seen additional playing time at DH recently as Burrell, who struck out 28 times in 84 at-bats, failed to break out of his hitting funk.

Tampa Bay will be responsible for the remainder of Burrell's $9 million salary in the second season of a $16 million, two-year contract. If he's released, a team that signs him would pay just a prorated share of the $400,000 minimum.

In the unlikely event he's traded, Burrell would receive a $200,000 bonus.
About time! Now, they need to send down Navarro whenever Shoppach comes back from the DL!

Nice comeback for the Rays today! 2 in the 8th to tie it, then a lead off game winning HR from Willy Aybar in the bottom of the 9th! 3-2 Rays win! 25-11 on the season! 1 game up on the Yanks!

Pirates-4
Cubs-3

W-Paul Maholm (3-3)
L-Ryan Dempster (2-4)
S-Dotel (7)

The Buccos luck against Chicago has not run out yet. McCutchen and Church drove home runs in the first, and Clement gave Dotel a little room for error by blasting one in the top of the 9th off Marmol. The Pirates are now only four games under .500, and in 3rd place in the NL Central behind the Cardinals and Reds.

The Pirates and Cubs face off tomorrow for the season finale at 2:20 EST at Wrigley.

Starters

PIT-Ohlendorf (0-1)
CHI-Lilly (1-3)

Orioles were a mere 3 outs away from a shutout and a season high 4-game winning streak... Too bad the bullpen surrendered 8 runs in the 9th...

Another nice comeback by my Tigers last night. Down 6-1 to Boston and win on a bases loaded walk in the 12th!

They're doing a great job coming back from deficits this year, but they have to stop falling behind so early.

Yankees looked like they were ready to sweep the Twins, up 3-1 with 2 outs in the 8th inning.

They had Joba on the mound, and Mariano waiting in the bullpen, to close the game out.

Bases get loaded up, so they put Rivera in.

First batter, walks.

Yankees still lead, 3-2

Rivera's first bases-loaded walk since 2005.

Next better, grand slam

Yankees down, 6-3

Some of the runs from the grand slam go to Joba, but the ones attributed to Rivera are his first runs allowed this season.

Tough one to swallow, but meh, another series won and ready to take both games against Boston and against Tampa Bay.

And they won again today.

3/4 from the Yankees and 2/3 from the Red Sox isn't too shabby.
