Way to spread your chances around there, but how exactly did you become a fan of those particular teams? They have little -- if anything -- in common.

Yep and not to sound like a broken record... BUT... best team in baseball since July and this season looking the same way still........................ and also a few winning seasons in a row as in over .500 club... building and building experience each year.

So this is no fluke boys and girls. Give some credit where it is due.

Will take key injuries to bring this ship down. Not saying they will make the playoffs this year, but they will at least have a hell of a year and stretch run. Boston may be too tough in the end and then who knows what can happen with the wildcard if a team in the central heats up.

Go Jays!

As much as I like the Yankees, Toronto's win over them proves nothing to me about Toronto. If it proves anything, it's that the Yankees are struggling yet again. Losing record a month and a half into the season, and more importantly, a losing record at home. I know it's only 1 game (they're 6-7 at home) but if you don't win a clear majority of your games at home, then you really don't have much of a chance of making it to October.

In recent years, the Rays had a 57-24 record at home last year. In 2007 when the Rockies made their run to the World Series, they were 51-31 at home (the extra 82nd home game was the 1-game playoff).

I'm worried that the empty seats at Yankee Stadium, combined with the "less intimidating" structure of the stadium, could haunt the Yankees. At least the empty seats issue can be taken care of quickly, but there's no way to renovate the upper-deck of the stadium.

I'll believe more in Toronto if they can go into Boston after this Yankees series, and at least split the series, but it'd be more impressive if they take 3 of 4 with some sort of ease.

.
yeah you could almost hear the trash talk from the people at the old stadium...

I've learned after like 3 years of counting them out early and watch them slowly come back and make a run so I'll hold my reservations on this team.

The Yankees are so inconsistent that it's hard to watch. On a micro-level, there's Teixeira. Despite 7 home-runs, he's batting .191. In mid-May. Each time he hits a home-run, you think "ok, he's turned it around now, time to get out of this slump". Then he strikes out 3 times in a row. The Boston game in which he had 2 HR's, I thought, "ok, this is the turning point", but nope. A week and a half later, still batting under .200.

On a macro-level, there's the Yankees in general. A couple weeks ago I went to the game where they were down 9-4 going into the 8th, and they ended up winning 10-9. I left the game thinking maybe this was the game they needed to start going in the right direction. It felt like the old Yankee teams with a little of the Yankee magic.

They didn't win another game until a week later.

Last Friday A-Rod returned, hit the home-run in his first pitch of his first at-bat. CC pitched a complete game shutout, and I thought, ok, this will get the team going.

Very next day they get blown out 12-5.

Although I guess if I look at it a bit differently, maybe the Yankees' inconsistency is a great thing, because every day when you turn on the game, you have no idea what you're in for. Maybe by the end of the season there will be back-to-back games in which CC pitches a perfect game, and Joba follows it up by giving up 5 grand-slams in an inning.

one thing I'd take away from all that is unless they have the biggest collapse of talent in the history of the game with signing players. There is no way the talent they have can be that bad for ever. I think if they'd kept torre he'd have had everything running smooth with these guy's. Some people just can't deal with Tons of millionaires

Hc666 may find this one amusing, was at the Jays game last night and obviously the Jays lost but still had a good time (13th row, third base). As expected, alot of boo's for A-Roid and in the 8th inning we started yelling Madonna comments at him ("Hey Alex, how was Madonna?", "HOW'S MA-DON-NA *CLAPCLAP CLAPCLAPCLAP*"). However a buddy of mine wins for the trash talking last night. He randomly yelled out when it got pretty quiet "Hey Alex, I wish my girlfriend could pull her dentures out too!" and immediately A-Rod went from focusing on the play to looking right at us hahaha.

Obnoxious to heckle? Sure, but there were quite a few adults in our section who we talked to, they knew we were just having fun. Couple kids from New York in front of us who obviously picked a good night to go, trash talking the Jays and Yankees the whole game with them but they were good guys just up in town seeing their team beat us, we'd probably be doing the same thing in New York.

LOL that's hilarious! Got the stare of the death from A-Rod! They say he is very sensitive and has trouble blocking the fans out at times. Just human I guess... anyway that's funny

Yeah that was quite the hummer of a game last night for the Jays. Hopefully Aaron Hill is ok as well and back tonight.

My brother and I are 3 rows back of the Jays dugout on the 30th of May for the Jays and Redsox, we go up once a year for a couple games... CAN NOT WAIT

The Royals should try starting him every 3 days.

~~~
Yankees had a nice rally, scoring 3 runs in the 9th to win the game. Going into the inning it seemed like they had a good chance, because Nathan was coming in to close his 4th game in a row, and maybe shouldn't have been pitching tonight.
Earlier in the game Damon got thrown out for arguing with the umpire about a strike. It was somewhat funny because Damon was in the process of drawing a line in the dirt with his bat to explain his case to the umpire, and the umpire had none of it, and instantly threw him out.
Gardner came in to fill in for Damon and had an inside-the-park HR, and then in his next at-bat hit a triple, which could've possibly been another inside-the-park home-run, had he not fallen onto the ground when rounding first.
How many people can slip and fall, yet still end up with a stand-up triple? He's a little speed demon.
Good pitching battle last night, hc. Wakefield never ceases to amaze me. OK, well sometimes he's awful when the knuckleball lacks movement, but the old guy is great overall.
Wakefield might be the most intriguing pitcher ever (to me anyway). The guy has a crazy knuck, but when that fails it becomes pretty tragic. It's kind of weird how he's been around for so long considering his career ERA is 4.31 over 17+ seasons. I love the knuckleballers, though! So old-school.
I love seeing knuckleballs in a slow motion replay. The way they just tumble through the air without spinning is fascinating to me.
