I love the Yankees' channel.

Despite the game being nearly all Tampa Bay so far, the "Land Rover Drive of the Game" is A-Rod's HR (though I guess to be honest, TB only had 1 HR, and it wasn't as good).

Not for me, I'm loving ever second of it!

Even if the Yanks win tomorrow, the Rays will still be up 3 games in the standings!

Thank God for SunRays aka SunSports & FSN-FL!

Lead off HR to start the game > A meaningless HR in the 6th while losing 6-1!

Who are these stiffs the Yankees are putting in for "relief"? Boone Logan? Mark Melancon? What's next, an appearance by the godfather of MLB stiffs Chan Ho Park?

Well it is the Yankees network. I suppose it only makes sense they'd show Yankee highlights. Even if they are few and far between tonight.

Yeesh, didn't realize this stat till I was browsing through the Yankee pitching stats.

The #1-4 Yankee starters have a combined 18-3 record, all with an ERA uner 3.50. The rest of the pitchers have a 7-11 record. And that's with Mariano Rivera just as dominant as ever. They really need to get that middle relief in order.

Haha. Terrible pitching by the Rays this inning.

I wish the Yankees could get that 8th inning back. The game could be tied right now.

What's up with Livan Hernandez? This guy find the fountain of youth or something? He pitched another 6.1 innings today for Washington giving up just 2 runs. His ERA for the year is a remarkable 1.62. Livan hasn't had a single season with an ERA below 4.80 since 2005. Has to be a mirage.

Over the last few days, I've gone from having no opinion about Thames, to liking him, to not liking him.

It takes me a while to warm up to the nee guys on the team each year, but Thames' game winning HR obviously made me like him.

But seeing all the replays on ESPN the next day made me kind of not like him.

Why?

Because of the way he held the bat up in the air as he watched the ball clear the fence. I'm all for celebrations in the NFL, but they've always annoyed me in baseball for some reason.

Second reason I'm starting to dislike him... the glare he gave to Cano yesterday, after he (Thames) dropped a fly ball to right field. The look on his face seemed like he was pissed at Cano, as if it was Cano's fault for the error. The outfielder always has priority in those sorts of situations (when an infielder is running out, outfielder running in), so even if Cano initially called it, Thames would've called him off, and knows it's his to catch.

Third reason I'm starting to dislike him... the boneheaded play tonight where he tossed his bat into the running lane between home and first, then stepped on it as he ran to first, spraining his ankle. What an idiot. And then he actually got pissed off in the dugout, and slammed his helmet. What is he pissed about? Him being an idiot?

I don't know why they let Sonny pitched the 9th! This was his 3 straight game that he has pitched!

Oh brother, everyone ready for Kanye West's... err... Milton Bradley's circus again? Just watch. After Seattle kicks him to the curb some other team will overpay this fool. That always seems to be the case.

Milton Bradley's hiatus from the Seattle Mariners is over.

His process of getting help to deal with what baseball's self-described bad guy called "stressors, unpleasant thoughts and feelings I've been having" is not.

Bradley rejoined the Mariners on Wednesday after two weeks of counseling for personal issues and anger.

"I don't have all the answers. I'm not saying I'm cured," Bradley said in a clubhouse meeting room before Wednesday's game against Toronto.

Haha. I kind of wonder what his issues were. Maybe he just wanted some time off.

Breaking news!

Posada was scheduled for an MRI today, and they found that he had a hairline fracture in his foot, so he's done for a month.

Since you can't really have 1 catcher on your team, the Yankees need to call someone up... and quickly... as in, so they're on the bench for tomorrow's game.

It's most likely going to be Chad Moeller getting called up from AAA. He's 35-years old, made his MLB debut in 2000, and has since accumulated 492 games played (meaning he's spent most of his career on the DL or in the minors).

The other, far less likely, option is to bring up the 20-year old top prospect Jesus Montero, and let him get his first taste of MLB action. I want to see this guy play, so I'd much prefer for them to choose him.

Cervelli is obviously going to be the everyday catcher regardless, so why not let the 20 year old get a little MLB experience? Maybe a pinch hit here or there, or put him in as a sub for Cervelli, if the Yankees have a comfortable lead late in the game. He's supposedly the successor to the home plate throne, whenever Posada is done as the everyday catcher, so why not call him up? Maybe hanging out with MLB'ers will rub off on him a bit, which can only help.

Interestingly, if you Google Jesus Montero, you can find an article about him, in which the writer comes up with scenarios that might lead to Montero getting called up. The scenarios were:

1. Nick Johnson ends up on the DL
2. Jorge Posada ends up on the DL
3. Jesus Montero dominates Scranton (the Yanks AAA team)

Well, let's see... 1 happened. 2 happened too. Good enough reasons for me. Unfortunately he's not doing well in AAA so far this year (.229/.300 BA/OBP, 3 HR, 19 RBI in 30 games) so the chances of him getting called up over Moeller are practically 0%.

An interesting read about Bryce Harper (the kid who dropped out of high school to try to become a pro, currently 17-years old playing college ball, but potentially the #1 pick in this year's draft).

Quote:
You're a scout, and all you know is what you see: Face caked in eye-black and hands bare, the batter strides to home plate and carefully lays his bat down in the dirt, perpendicular to the pitcher. He scoops up some dirt and lets it fall through his fingers. He spits into his hands. He picks up the bat, scoops some dirt over the handle, twists his fingers around it. The pitcher waits.

"He does that in pro ball," one scout behind home plate mutters, "the first pitch'll be in his ear."
Link: Bryce Harper, potential No. 1 pick in the MLB draft, faces questions about his attitude, not his ability
