"It'll change the way we celebrate," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "It sure was exciting, but you always wonder if it's an accident waiting to happen. This is definitely unfortunate. We've just got to wait and see what we're dealing with. We'll know more information as the night moves on."
Well that stinks. Gotta be careful with those celebrations. Morales was off to a fantastic start this year, on pace 35 HR and 120 RBI's.

this was like the cardinal kicker gramatica that tore his ACL after he celebrated making a pretty easy field goal several years back

I love ESPN's headline for this story.

I am just over that Anaheim story. He was the best hitter on their team, too. This is just stunning. Talk about adding insult to injury for a team that hasn't been doing very well. (Not to mention, their clean-up hitter left the game earlier after being hit on the hand with a pitch, ouch.)

Crazy day for baseball and for sports, all things considered.

No idea, but he's seemed pretty terrible at times. His ERA for today was something like 108. That's always good.

I'm happy Halladay got a perfect game, so now the most recent one was done by an elite pitcher, not some random bum. It sort of restores the perfect game into something based on skill, not luck. But I'm sure luck plays a huge role.

Sure, the Marlins aren't exactly an amazing team, but if I discredit Halladay's, I'd have to talk crap about David Cone's.

I remember the Frerotte and Gramatica ones, funny stuff, well probably not to them.

Wow, Phillies were shutout AGAIN today 1-0. That makes 5 of the last 8 games their offense went without scoring a single run and only 7 total runs scored in that span.

I dunno but I do hope their slump continues for at least three more days since they have my Braves for a 3 game series.

Thankfully the Braves lucked out and Halladay won't get to start this series.

Very bad 7 game homestand for my Rays this week, 2-5! Not much to say, the offense was non existent and the pitching was awful! It feels like the Rays are in the twilight zone with how bad they are playing at home and how great they are on the road! At least they are still in first with a 3 1/2 game lead on the Yanks! Time to hit the road!

Bring on the Jays and Rangers!

Still being 3.5 games in first following a very bad homestand in the toughest division in baseball is an enviable position to be in if ya ask me.

I'm shocked Toronto is still just 4.5 back and ahead of the Red Sox with almost 1/3 of the season complete. I was sure they were going to compete with Baltimore for last place in the AL East and win 70 games tops this year. The Jays 85-37 home run edge over their opponents is amazing. Right now they have 8 players on pace for 20+ homers this season.

I use the Jays for almost every game in MLB 10 The Show (played ONCE with another team, the Yankees) and hit an abnormal number of home runs. Bautista, Wells, Buck, Lind, Snider, and Hill being the main offenders for me. Glad to see they are playing well (for now), last year at this time they were in a season-crushing nine-game losing streak after starting off strong for the first six weeks.

Buccos are struggling right now, they haven't had much success against the Braves. The Pirates have called Neil Walker up and he has been tearing the cover off the ball the last few games. He really is not even one of our big name prospects either, I cannot imagine what Pedro Alvarez and Jose Tabata are going to do in the majors. Brad Lincoln is also almost to the majors, he will help the Pirates pitching rotation greatly.

That's putting it mildly. Their last good season ended against the Braves. Hard to believe it was 18 years ago.

Seriously though, I wish the Pirates would finally have some success. Pittsburgh is a proud sports city. I kinda miss the Pirates being relevant. There really is no excuse for going 18 years without a winning season even if they can't afford to spend much money.

Well so far the Phillies offense is MIA yet again today. Braves lead 6-0 in the 4th.
