They trade some of it, but not all of it. Jeter, Rivera, Cano, Posada, Hughes, Joba, etc. etc. etc.

At best, the Yankees were hoping Jackson would be a Granderson-type player. So in a way, it wasn't a bad idea to trade him. They were basically getting today what they hoped their guy MIGHT pan out to be in the future.

Obviously Jesus Montero seems to be a big guy to look out for in the future, at catcher. They have a few outfielders that show some promise too... two that I've heard a bit about are Slade Heathcott, and Melky Mesa (he's actually on the Tampa team now, and is apparently a freak of an athlete so hopefully he can develop some numbers to show for that).

Haha. They'll even rip the stub off, as if to say "look, I was really there!"

Wow, I was looking at the Minor League baseball-reference.com and stumbled upon this amazing Braves AA minor league team from 1992. That team probably could have beaten a lot of MLB teams.

I'm sure there were also some great Yankee minor league teams in those days considering that was just before they built their late 90's dynasty.

Washington's Strasburg is scheduled to make his MLB debut on June 8th. I really don't look forward to the Braves facing yet another top-notch pitcher in the NL East. Strasburg has been killing it in triple-A with a 1.27 ERA.

Care to explain where Jeter, Mariano, Cano, Gardner, Posada, Cerveli, Johnso, Thames, Aceves, Pettitte, Pena came from? (and those are just the top of my head)

2 errors in 1 play to tie in the 8th and then the walk off balk in the bottom of 9th to save Loneys behind from some horrible base running

Seriously, the Jays are putting up some ridiculously good numbers yet are only taking us out for a nice dinner with no intention of calling back...

One of the more ugly wins I've seen, but we'll take it! I can't remember the last time I saw a manager so scared to use his pen than Hinch did tonight.

Yep. Best Jays team since... well 1993 haha.

I'll be there for the Yanks vs Jays this weekend, all 3 games. Can't wait!

Marcus Thames. He came up through the Yankee farm system and was with the team for a brief time (until we sent him to the Tigers and now resigned him).

such a shame with 6 innings of work they don't give him that out at first it was questionable in my op.

Well at least he's getting progressively worse.

I saw his second start, in which he had a no hitter going through 6 innings, before they took him out (they had/have him on a tight pitch/inning count). I think he allowed 1 hit in his first AAA start.

Two starts ago, he gave up his first run. In his last start, he gave up three runs, and got credited with the loss (for what it's worth... that start was against the S/W-B Yankees).

So maybe he'll get smacked around when he makes his MLB debut.

I think he was talking recently. Most of those big name guys came up in the early to mid 90's. The Yankees did give up a lot of good young talent for overpriced veterans between the late 90's through about 2006 and their farm system suffered as a result. In recent years they do seem to be smarter about giving away top prospects

yea because now they just offer players $100 million dollar contracts and you dont have to trade anymore, problem solved
