Well I'm a Braves fan and even I have to believe the Phillies have too much talent not to win the division. My best guess is Phillies win the NL East with the Braves finishing a few games back to win the Wild Card. So yes I do think the NL East is the most likely to have 2 teams make the playoffs.

They have a shot, but not a good one. On paper they have had very good teams for many years. But in reality they always seem to underachieve and blow it the last month of the season.

Maybe we need to get an opinion from a couple of non Met/Braves/Phillies fans haha. I actually think u guys are overchieving at this point and will eventually fall off leaving it between the Phillies and Mets. Got Em!!

I'm not a fan of any of those teams. In fact I hate Philly with a serious passion, but like he said the Phills are to damn good to be in a slump all season long. I'd be shocked if they don't finish on top of that division.

I'd take the Braves over the Mets. The Braves have played the fewest home games in MLB, so they have a lot of home series left this year. Their record has been good so far and it should only improve with more games at home.

The Mets have no realistic chance of winning the division. Frankly, the Marlins are a bigger threat. Mets' pitching is problematic at best, unless you really believe Dickey is a quality starter. I am not sure what is going on with the Phillies, the offense has looked awful for a long stretch now. Utley is grinding out at-bats, but he is not hitting like he should. Howard is just not the same hitter he was in his MVP season. Teams do not fear him anymore, they feel they can get him out with the right pitches. The Yankees showed everyone in the World Series how to attack Howard, and other teams have copied that formula.

Well we have 3 good starters in Santana, Pelfrey & Niese and thats more than a lot of teams can say. Well see though. I think as long as we stay healthy we will be right there. Like I said I think it will be a 2 man race between us and the Phillies when its all said and done. Got Em!!

The drop in Santana's K-rate is quite alarming. He just is not the same pitcher he was three years ago, when he had a legitimate claim to being the best in the game.

I'm pretty much with you there. I'd be impressed if the Mets crack .500 this year. They had their chance a couple years ago and missed the boat. That team just seems to have bad chemistry. They really need to make some moves. With Washington's improvement the Mets might even have trouble staying out of the celler in the NL East.

He may not be the same pitcher 3 years ago but he is still pretty good. Pelfrey is lights out and Niese is comin along just fine. I think we will be ok. Got Em!!

Like I said man well see. We are right there in the thick of it as we speak so time will tell. I think we have more talent than your team so I say we stick around a lot longer than u guys. I guarantee we dont come in last. Got Em!!

I got the Phills winning the east and the Braves winning the Wild Card! 2 reasons for me picking the Braves over the Mets, 1: Bobby Cox's last year and 2: Mets + September = fail! Got em!!!

NL East: Phills
NL Central: Cards
NL West: Dodgers
NL Wild Card: Braves

BTW, I'm rooting for the Mets this weekend, though! Beat them Yanks!

That is exactly the four teams I think will make the playoffs in the NL. Though the NL West could certainly end up a crapshoot. I think LA has a slight edge. San Francisco could continue to compete in the division if Lincecum/Cain/Zito continue to pitch well. San Diego I still think is a bit of a fluke. They will probably fade away eventually. Though I could see any team other than Arizona winning the NL West.

I found these graphs over on brooksbaseball.net regarding Strasburg's control from his debut game against the Pirates.

Pitch Type:

FF (FourSeam Fastball)
CH Changeup)
CU (Curveball)

7" inches vertical AND 7" horizontal movement pretty well grouped together.

Horizontal Movement X Speed

Speed X Vertical Movement

And thanks to 'panthers30' at WNFF for posting this.
