Guys...I can not tell you how long I have been waiting to say this. I cannot tell you how long Pirates fans have been waiting to see this. This is the night.

Pedro Alvarez is in Pittsburgh.

It is time. The future of the Pittsburgh Pirates is right here, right now. No more waiting for prospects, they are here. These are the guys who will stop the Pirates losing...Alvarez, Tabata, Lincoln...and many more to come. But tonight, all eyes will be on PNC Park, where one of the MLB's most highly touted prospects will be on the diamond.

Zach Duke will face John Danks tonight

Now is the time

Alvarez might have been called up sooner if he and Boras didn't pull the douche move where he tried to get his contract voided. No matter what he does I will never respect him as a person.

Kawakami isn't nearly as bad as his win/loss record would indicate. He's not bad for a #5 starter. But ya, against Price you could have just penciled in a win for the Rays before the game started.

That's great. That was an issue some time ago, but tonight it is about baseball, not money.

Against any other team I'd root against the Yankees. But given this is the Phillies I wish they'd do my team a favor and win. Looks like Burnett was terrible tonight.

Hard to believe this could be Jamie Moyer's 265th career win tonight. He's 47 years old now. If he hangs around till 50 he might just get 300.

Not quite. I absolutely hate the Phillies but my hat is off to the ageless wonder Jamie Moyer. He won his 265th career game at age 47 by pitching 8 innings and giving up just 2 runs on 3 hits to a world class Yankee lineup at Yankee Stadium. The guy continues to amaze me.

Check out this stat:
Moyer wins before age 40 - 164
Moyer wins after age 40 - 101

Kansas City, really? Most people probably don't even realize they still have an MLB team.

Kansas City to host '12 All-Star Game

Bereft of baseball pageantry for decades, Kansas City will finally get to see the game's best and brightest up close.

The 2012 All-Star Game is coming to Kauffman Stadium.

Commissioner Bud Selig made the formal announcement Wednesday at the newly renovated ballpark. He was following through on a promise he made when Jackson County voters approved a sales tax increase in 2006 to finance work at Kauffman and Arrowhead Stadium, home of the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs, that totaled more than $500 million.

Alvarez went 0-2 in his Pirates debut today against the White Sox. Jose Tabata hit his first career home run.

The Pirates have now lost 10 in a row.

Haha, odd choice. But since I don't really care about the All-Star Game, it doesn't really matter much to me. I'm actually kind of glad that they were given the game, after the work they put into renovating their stadium.

Using the All-Star Game as bait is a nice way for MLB to encourage teams to keep their stadiums up-to-date (either through renovations, or building entirely new stadiums).

Football may or may not be following suit, with the recent NY/NJ Super Bowl decision (I'm all for cold-weather Super Bowls).

Man, seriously?!?!

KC was one of the great teams of the past and a great baseball city. They even had Bo Jackson at one time hahah... also I believe they hosted the AllStar game in the late 80s(EDIT sorry i was wrong on this, they haven't hosted in a longer time). .. and some WS wins to boot. They are very deserving of the All Star game in 2012.

Football is completely following suit with the Super Bowl. It's pretty much guaranteed now that if you build a new stadium in a warm weather town or a dome you will get a Super Bowl. The Lions got the Super Bowl in 2006 after building a new stadium, Phoenix got the SB in 2008 in their new stadium, Dallas has the next Super Bowl in their new stadium, and Indianapolis has the 2012 Super Bowl in their new stadium. The Super Bowl often is in Miami but the NFL has told them they won't get another Super Bowl without some major renovations.

I don't mind the All Star game in Kansas City. It has a very central location so more fans could travel to it. My only slight problem with it is that it will be the second time in 4 years that the All Star game will be in Missouri, since St. Louis had the 2009 game.
