Ok that's weird... must have been disturbing Harper and his G20 sleepover.

PS Cito finally juggled the line-up, appears to have worked tonight anyway. Lind and Hill need a serious kick in the butt.

No need to remind me. I lived through it. Regardless. Even when they were competing, still doesn't bring in the crown (2006). Besides, ownership seem like they don't even care about the team or the stadium (last year outside the stadium, they still have pictures of players that were no longer with the team).

Could it have been economics? I mean the Canadian Dollar was very weak against the U.S. Dollar for most of those 17 years. Only recently has the Canadian Dollar really rebounded. Canada hasn't even won an NHL title since like 1993 despite having like 1/5th of the NHL teams. Maybe economic problems carried over to other sports too. Just a hunch.

That's possible.

You are right. The Blue Jays have not been run well since the lock out. It appears with the return of Paul Beeston and new GM that they are headed in the right direction finally.

They went from building strong teams and adding FA's to just signing over the hill FAs and usually ending with them getting released but still paid by the team... oy!

And to the other point made, in the mid to late 90s and early 2000s, the Canadian Dollar did not help matters but that is no longer an issue.

Toronto is the 4th largest sports market in North America, so when the ship is set on the right direction once again... all will be well with the Jays.

Manny any good against the Yankees? Pretty sure he was wildly inconsistent against them with the Bo Sox.

Well, I suppose I can root for Manny under those special circumstances, heh.

I have no idea. I don't even remember the last time these two teams met. It's been several years.

I dunno about that. It seems like players in both MLB and the NBA don't like playing in Canada since most players are American and an increasing number of MLB players are from the Caribbean/South America and probably don't want to play for a team so far north. The NHL is the only sport where the reverse is true as something like 65% of players are Canadian.

A fine out by Carlos Zambrano today against the White Sox, giving up 4 runs in the first and then getting into a yelling match with Derrek Lee and getting pulled from the game. I like this line from the Chicago Tribune's in-game blog on the game:
The game ended at 3:21 p.m. when Carlos Quentin hit a three-run home run over the left field wall. Due to the rules of Major League Baseball, however, they will continue to play the final eight innings, even though the chances of the Cubs scoring four runs is a mathematical improbability."

I'm tired of being a Cubs fan. Is it football season yet?

So I assume you're a Bears fan. What on earth would make you feel any more optimistic about the upcoming NFL season?

I've been a Pats fan since I was 11 and they drafted Drew Bledsoe, who I was a fan of for some reason. I didn't really start caring about baseball until I was 16 and I decided I wanted to cheer for a more local team because it was tough being a Pats fan in Iowa because their games were rarely on and it was hard to get Patriots merchandise and I didn't want to go through that with another team.
