Not really. I grew up on the Braves since there were no teams in Florida in the 80's/early 90's. Never really got attached to the Marlins or Rays though I do try to.

Nothing makes me more angry as a fan to see that, I'd rather see him suck and lose then do that and get a loss.

I've always felt W-L records are somewhat useless, unless you know the context. I was glad to see Greinke win the Cy Young last year, despite not having the best record, because it's obvious his record could've/would've been better if he had better run support. ERA is good, VORP/WAR are useful too though a little convoluted.

Yeah, but it still doesn't change the fact that I'd wish they'd win lol, had Greinke/ Stras been with you're team they'd be even more heralded then they are now.

*side note seeing ubaldo jimenez's auto on ebay gives me chills like when I was not wanting to bid 10 bucks on tony romo's auto now its like 300 bucks (same with Jimenez)

I absolutely hate W/L records determing the Cy Young. But unfortunately it happens too often.

Case in point: 2004 NL Cy Young Award
Winner - Roger Clemens (18-4) ERA 2.98
2nd place - Randy Johnson (16-14) ERA 2.60

Johnson was by far the better pitcher that year, as he pitched for a D-Backs team that went 51-111. One of the worst teams of all-time. Clemens pitched for a good 92 win Astros team. It's a miracle Johnson still managed to win 16 games on a team that bad. They might have lost 125 games if they didn't have the Big Unit.

I'll be happy if we can just get Strasburg's pitch count high enough to get him taken out before the 7th inning. If they Braves do that they are probably in good shape.

Unfortunately he threw jusy 9 pitches in the 1st.

No run support... His had a loss and a no decision where he only gave up 1 earned run each game... On any other team (aside from the Orioles) he would easily be 4-0...

Yeah imagine if he had decent leads and could just throw without having to worry that 1 mistake could cost him a loss because his team is so unreliable.

So I'm watching some game updates on MLB Network and they show the Marlins at home. Marlins have a big inning and score 4. Not one single person in that audience is cheering or even making any kind of noise. And yes there are people there. How pathetic and sad.

Haha, that soon, eh? It seems easier to rush pitchers up through the minors, because when you throw good stuff, you throw good stuff. With Harper, he could still potentially be a bust on the professional level. I wouldn't be too surprised to see him called up by the end of 2012, but can easily see them waiting until 2013, if need be.

But in any case, as long as he survives, he'll probably get hyped up quite a bit.

Yeah I actually won't be shocked if he busts out, and either never makes it up, or is either bad or average.

True. Strasburg at least pitched Division I baseball a couple years at San Diego St. under Tony Gwynn.

Harper's highest level of baseball is Community College. The leap from Jr. College to AA or AAA minor league baseball, let alone MLB is HUGE. Heck, there were guys I was better than on my little league baseball teams that made my local Community College baseball team.

Braves defense has been horrible tonight. Three errors and the Nats offense still cannot capitalize. This game is going about as expected, all pitching and no offense.

Well there it is. 2-0 Braves. They probably don't need more than that given how aweful the Nats offense is. I do feel bad for Strasburg who is pitching very well yet again.
