The O's are 5-5 in their last 10 and playing better lately. They are only on pace to lose 113 games now.

I just looked it up and Baltimore has a payroll of $82 mill this year, 17th highest of 30 teams. That's $20 mill higher than Tampa's payroll. Talk about a bad return on investment.

And what genius thought it was a good idea to make 35 year old journeyman pitcher Kevin Millwood the team's highest paid player at $12 mill this season? And their 2nd highest paid is Julio Lugo at $9.25 mill?!?

Are you kidding me? There is no excuse for a franchise with their great history in one of the best ballparks in baseball sucking this bad for so long.

Felix has 2-hit the Yankees through 8 innings with 10 K's. Fantastic pitching performance against the Yankees in their own ballpark.

The Mariners have two great aces in Lee and Hernandez but not much else. Rowland-Smith is 1-7 with a 6.18 ERS starting for Seattle tomorrow. The Yankees should win that game easily.

Wow, I had no idea. I thought Boston was still a good 3 or 4 back. They really did sneak up on NY and Tamps the past month or so.

The Rays have gone 4-6 in their last 10 and were 11-14 in June, so they aren't the juggernaut they were at the start of the season. The Twins are also at home and have Pavano pitching, who has won his last 4 starts. If I were going to bet on the game I'd take the Twins.

I heard this on the radio today, and while I had heard it before it is still enjoyable. In 2000 when the Mets released Bobby Bonilla he was due a contract buyout of $5.9 million. Instead of receiving the buyout Bonilla and the Mets agreed to a deferred compensation agreement. Starting one year from today, July 1, 2011, Bonilla will receive $1.193 million every year from the Mets until 2035, for a total just under $30 million.

A very good player from the 90s and one of the reasons the Mets used to be annual contenders but wow.

Phillies' problems just got exacerbated -

Oh come on now. Calling him "one of the best hitters ever" is a serious overstatement. Very good player? Yes. But the guy isn't even Hall of Fame meterial much less one of the best hitters ever.

The fact that they're doing it with the injuries that they have is what strikes me. Reminds me of 2004...
