Braves are having a night against the Phils as they look to take two of three. Allstar Martin Prado (.337 BA) has three hits incl. two solo HRs tonight, which is his 6th multi-hit game in his last 11. He now has 40 multi-hit games and 15 3-hit games, and I believe he leads the majors in both categories. Allstar Brian McCann has a 3-RBI double tonight, Chipper has a double, allstar Omar Infante with two hits (he's been hitting real well since his controversial allstar selection).

Matt Diaz just hit a 2-run HR off Jamie Moyer in the 6th, too, so the Braves have added 3 HRs to his all-time record tonight.

If the Reds are able to put away the Mets, then it's a great night for Atlanta fans.

Your wish is granted.

But Cordero almost gave me a heart attack. Way too close for comfort.

Now, the Reds move onto the Phillies.

For the longest time I had a hard time believing the Reds were for real. I was sure sooner or later the Reds would fall apart and St. Lousi would run away with the NL Central. I'm starting to think the Reds have a good shot at winning that division. They really have built a good young team.

I'm still going to keep the champagne bottle corked, for now. But after 15 years of bad baseball, I'm certainly pleased with how their season is going.

It's been a much different atmosphere at the ballpark. Last year, and plenty of the years before, as soon as the Reds would fall behind, half the stadium would empty out. Now just about everyone sticks it out until the end. Oh, and there's actually a crowd during weekday evening games. It's a much better feeling.

Cubs get a sweep of the struggling Diamondbacks. It would be nice if the Cubs could take 3 of 4 from the Dodgers and get some momentum going into the All Star break. I'm trying to be hopeful because this team has the talent but just hasn't been executing, but they'll probably get swept by LA and go into the break with no momentum.

Yeah the Twins are one of the worst teams in baseball, they can't consistently beat anybody lately.

The Twins are only 1.5 games out of first, they are far from one of the worst teams in baseball. They may be struggling a little right now but that happens to all teams.

He promoted his way into the game, and it worked. You can't blame him. Blame the people that voted for him.

Three words: New York Market. I'm surprised so many Rays got in to be honest. Usually it's just Yankees and Red Sox regardless of whether the players are any good.

How 'bout them Cincinnati Reds getting 4 players into the Big Dance? I'm glad Joey Votto made it in. He certainly deserves it after the season he's been having.

I blame the system I don't blame people voting when they can, you're bound to get homers when you have a say in what goes on.

Can't believe the Braves might have the best record in the NL going into the All-Star break. I knew they'd be improved this year but never expected them to be 50-35 after 85 games.

The offense is better than I expected, though it was hard to predict Prado fighting for a batting crown and Heyward being great until the thumb injury.

Anyone that wants to watch incredible at-bats night after night, needs to watch Josh Hamilton play this season. I have seen some amazing stretches (Chipper during the early part of the year he won the batting title, Bonds in 2001-2002, etc.) by players, but Hamilton is playing in another league right now. The MLB package is worth it just to see his games. This is the closest any of us are going to get to seeing a young Mickey Mantle play. The combination of blazing speed and immense power is just so amazing. Hamilton was the last everyday player in MLB this year to ground into a double play, when he did it this week.

Atlanta has had incredible luck with the veteran free agents signed this season. Troy Glaus, Eric Hinske, Melky Cabrara, Billy Wagner, etc. It's like every move they made turned into gold.

The Padres are also 50-35 but Braves have better record at home which is 30-10

Plus there's this.

Games played so far:

Atlanta - 40 home games, 45 road games
San Diego - 46 home games, 39 road games

Atlanta has played a far more difficult schedule thus far.
