AJ is out for 6 games for throwing at the rangers head(s)

AJ is wild but at the same time, he also is sometimes off his rocker.

So who know :P

That's one thing I love about American League baseball. Pitcher throws at a batter, so the other team retaliates by throwing at someone who had absolutely nothing to do with it. There's a reason you don't see as many pitchers throwing at batters in the National League, because they know they'll get thrown at in retaliation.

Haha. I don't blame him for what he did. Teixeira got hit twice in that game by the time that happened.

The first time they hit Teix might've been a mistake, but the second one was clearly intentional.

Burnett had to do it, and the umpire allowed it by not warning both teams after the 2nd time Teix got hit. He figured if he didn't let the Yankees throw back, it would just carry over into the next game, so he laid off the warnings until after Burnett got his chance to hit someone.

After seeing the highlights finally, I agree.

Pitcher suspensions are pretty hilarious, they wait to appeal, pitch a game, get it reduced and then don't miss a start lol

or its six days and he misses one game or none if he has a long break. Lol if they really wanted to make a dent keep him out 6 total starts.

Yeah, that would be tough to do (and a bit unfair in this particular case) because how do you measure a start? The Yankees could say they were trying something new and they were going to have him pitch 6 days in a row, and then he's back again in a week. I guess you could just suspend them for 30 games or something, but now a guy would be suspended almost as long as a steroid user, but he was only sticking up for his team, not sticking needles in his butt.

The only problem with the Burnett thing is that he threw at the guy's head, which was a bit too much. Granted, it didn't even hit the guy, but he's still suspended nonetheless.

He's appealing the 6-game suspension now, so that'll probably get it knocked down to 4 games, and he'll end up not missing a start.

Random other baseball stuff:

-Randy Johnson got his 300th win earlier. That guy seems like he's 50 years old.

-On the Yankees post-game show, they showed the Yankees as being in first place, but added "the Yankees have the same record as Boston, but are in first due to percentage points". Sounds like a bit of a bias by the Yankees network, because the Yanks and Bo-Sox are both 32-22. If anything the "tie", if it really needs to be resolved, should go to Boston, for being 5-0 against the Yankees this year.

Jays beat up Grienke! Woohoo! First team to score on him this year, then first team to homer off him and then first team to send him packing up early!

Grienke's ERA goes from 1.10 to 1.55... ok he's still looking good ERA wise lol

yea I thought it was a bit much. But I do think you don't teach anyone anything by saying 6 games but you play once a week so you miss 1 start at the most.

shoot they could even mark him down at DH and say well he was going to play but we'll use his suspension time

It's all relative though. The 6 games is just to force them to miss a start, because as a starting pitcher, you only make about 30 starts per year, so you're missing 1/30th of the season.

It'd be the same as a position player getting suspended for a real six games, in terms of the amount of a season they're suspended.

Suspending a pitcher for 5-6 starts would be equivalent to suspending a regular player for 25-30 games, which seems unfair for a relatively minor incident.

LOL

no need to apologize... i don't think i ever remember anyone striking out 5 times in one game... also that same game, Adam Lind who hits after Rios went 5 for 5 and ended up with ZERO RBIs... because Rios struck out every time LOL

Not sure I have seen either happen before in the same game. Very bizarre one it was!

My new Jays line up if I was Cito

Scuturo
Hill
Overbay
Lind
Rolen
Barajas
Rios
Wells
Millar

Pretty much every Jay has more Homers and RBIs than Wells. Time to drop is ass in the line... Rios as well. They are the worst #3 and #4 hitters in all of baseball.

Yeah he really hasn't come close to living up to that contract. I kind of felt when they did it that they really didn't get a good enough look at how he might pan out.

Once again... 2006 he had an amazing year, then 2007 I think it was he turned some heads at the allstar game... then he signs and that was it. He blows.

I think this all has to do with the fact that the Jays have no dangerous hitters. In 2006 they had Troy Glaus who had a terrific healthy year hitting 38 homers I think. Both Rios and Wells hit very well in front of him. After Glaus was hurt alot in 2007 and gone last season from Toronto, Wells and Rios have gotten extra bad.

Your #3 hitter is only as good as your #4... and this case... that's petty bad lol

Yeah saw that, as much as I hate the Red Sox I find it hard to hate alot of their players... Lester is certainly one of them... great game for him!

Randy Wells cannot get a break for the Cubs. He's 0-2 in 6 starts, with an ERA of 1.86. Yesterday he left with a 3-2 lead after 6.2 innings and the bullpen blew it (but Cubs won in extras). Last week against Atlanta he left with a 5-1 lead after 7 and the bullpen blew it. His 2 decisions were a 2-1 loss and a 3-1 loss. If this happened to Zambrano he'd go crazy.

Saltalamacchia does indeed have the longest name ever. His Braves jersey looked much better.
