What a tough week for Yankee fans. First Bob Sheppard and now The Boss. I know they're playing the Sheppard tape for Jeter's at-bat(s) tonight; I wonder what they'll do for Steinbrenner.

It's funny that all the people here who are Anti-Yankees depised Mr. Steinbrenner for what he did in the MLB and now they are saddened by his death!

He was an interesting dude and did do some good things. Just because someone didn't support his way of acquiring championships doesn't me he wasn't a good person or have an impact in the world.

I personally liked him allot from the jokes seinfeld had about him and all his awesome comments before he took a step back from running the franchise.

At least he lived to see 2 Boston world series

I've always been mixed on Steinbrenner.

I've always liked his emphasis on maintaining the tradition and pride of the Yankees.

But I've always hated how he seemed to treat his employees (as described in Joe Torre's book from last year, though it extends to regular employees too, not just the players/coaches).

In any case, he certainly changed baseball (for better or worse), and maybe sports in general.

hypocrite, two-face? i little harsh, even though i didnt like him i do feel sadden because he did so much for NY and baseball. No matter how much i hate someone i would never wish them dead. RIP Steinbrenner. There is nothing wrong with people who disliked him to show their respects. I'm sorry but Yankee fans shouldnt be the only ones allowed to mourn, show respect.

Actually both the $8 million and $10 million figures are somewhat correct. The group bought the Yankees from CBS for $10 million, but it included 2 parking garages that the Yankees sold back to CBS for $1.2 million after the sale. So technically the $10 million number is correct, but in reality the $8.8 million figure is more acurate.
