Liriano got out of the 7th inning without giving up his 4th hit, can't remember the last time he had a complete game.

He's only at 83 pitches throuh 7. They might let him finish this game off as long as he keeps the shutout going, despite the blowout score. I'm surprised the Twins havn't pulled their stars out with the score this lopsided.

Nope Slama's finishing it off, I would be more upset but you can't argue with the success Liriano usually tends to have. Can't believe how good he's been after his Tommy John surgery.

I just don't get why he's having an awesome season catching, throwing and hitting wise but the HRs just aren't there. He always struck me as a phenomenal power hitter, until this year.

Why in the world would you have the impression that he's a phenomenal power hitter? Not counting last year the most homers he has ever hit in a season was 13 and every other year he was in the single didgets.

Maybe because his career batting average is about .300 and his career slugging is about .400?

Man rough outing for Greinke as the Twins hammer them 19-1. Nice to see Mauer come through with a 5-5, 7 RBI night.

Sorry but average is not a barometer for power. And 400 slg is far from phenomenal.

There have been 5 no-hitters this year, and the Rays have been involved in 3 of them, being no-hit twice (Braden's perfect game and Edwin Jackson's no-hitter) and throwing a no-hitter yesterday. They were also the opponent when Mark Buehrle had a perfect game last year.

With the Rockies and Rays having pitchers with the franchise's first no-hitters this year the only remaining teams without a no-hitter are the Padres, who were founded in 1969, and the Mets, who were founded in 1962. Every team has been no-hit, and the Cubs have gone the longest period without being no-hit, as the last no-hitter against them was in 1965.

For the second time this season there's been a serious injury while celebrating a win. The Marlins won on a walk-off single Sunday and when reigning NL Rookie of the Year Chris Coghlan went to deliver a pie to the face of Wes Helms he suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee and may require surgery. He will miss 6-8 weeks if surgery is required.

For most of the past decade basically the opposite was true for the Twins.

Yeah I miss Johan Santana but there's nothing that can be done about that now. Really hoping they grab another ace before the deadline but it doesn't sound like they have any plans to do so.

Well the Twins home attendance is soaring this year with the new ballpark. Overall 6th highest in baseball and 10K per game above last year. Surely that will help increase revenue and allow them to spend spend more retaining their great young players. I was really impressed with the big contract extension they gave Mauer.

There's really no aces out there for trade. The Twins won't take Oswalt becuase he has too much money owed to him.

It really is a barren landscape out there for really good starting pitcher availability. Even the Yankees aren't frivilous enough to throw the crazy money ($16 mill+ per year) that Oswalt wants. While still a good starter the guy is clearly on a downward trend and not worth that kind of money.
