A guy on my local sports radio mentioned this earlier today. He was talking about how bad all pro sports teams are getting with actual attendance versus paid attendance. Those photos seem to back up his theory that corporations/big dollar buyers are buying up lots of (usualls season) tickets for games they don't go to. In looking at your pictures it appears this even goes on at Yankee Stadium. I'll bet the game you went to was officially a paid sellout but you can see large numbers of empty seats, even many box seats.

What is that empty lot going to be that's under construction in the first pic?

Yup, even with as many fans as there are, there's no way so many sports teams would have as many sell-outs as they do each season if corporations and such didn't buy up a lot of seats.

+1 thanks for sharing. How much were your tickets around $80? I still haven't gotten to a game this year. Hopefully next month.

And it's really a bad thing for pro sports IMO. I even saw this at Magic playoff games. There were a good number of empty seats despite all games being sellouts. Even in the Magic-Celtics game I went to. All it does is drive up ticket prices and hurt the real fans who go to as many games as they can (like me) but don't have the time or money to buy season tickets. Teams depend on concessions, parking, etc. on top of tickets sold for revenue. Rich people/corporations buying up season tickets and not attending games helps nobody.

Hate to break the news but Strasburg was scratched for some unknown injury. Even as a Braves fan I was looking forward to seeing him pitch against my team.

Kind of makes me wish I lived close to Cowboys stadium, my father's company would probably have season tickets, granted if we lived there it would make it harder to get the tickets. Yeah, it hurts teams' bottom lines when they allow corporations and scalpers to do that, makes me wonder why they're not stricter about it.

The ticket price for the Super Bowl is going to be insane if the Cowboys make it.

So far this is all know. Still no word on what this injury is for Strasburg. Hopefully nothing serious.

Maybe he slipped getting out of the shower, it happens, even to pro athletes.

I can't watch the game tonight because it's on My9..I don't have the Directv MLB extra innings package. I usually miss a game a week. Oh well..hopefully I don't miss anything too dramatic. Like A-rod hitting number 600..:

My favorite was when I was a kid and one of my favorite pitchers John Smoltz went on the DL. His injury was due to severe chest burns received as a result of trying to iron a shirt while he was wearing it. No I'm not making this up sadly...

That really makes you wonder, wow. Irons are like 150 degrees aren't they? He's lucky that injury didn't end his career.

That's the site of the old Yankee Stadium. Not sure what they're building now, though.

Or Rickey Henderson getting frostbite in August after falling asleep while icing his foot.

I thought they were building a Yankee museum or something there. That would be kinda lame if the former location of home plate where so many legends played at turns out to be some stupid McDonalds.

Some MLB player suffered severe burns from falling asleep in a tanning bed recently. Forget who it was. Why the heck an MLB player who plays a ton of day games in the summer heat needs to use a tanning bed is beyond my comprehension.
