Correct, 28 at-bats over 9 games. He also had a career worst 0-22 hitting slump in that span.

Gammons is on talking about Stras, and it makes me feel better when he compares him to Wood/Prior saying "Wood got so much torque on the arm that he remembered the 20 strikeout game and called Jason Stark and said that guy won't pitch 10 years", and on Prior he said "Prior had such a bad delivery that he thought he'd only be a 500-600 inning a year guy".

Still has me worried even with negative x-rays.

Not Cal Ripken

or DJeter.

Carl Pavano is 34 but still going strong. Liriano isn't pitching complete games but he's getting it done also. Yeah we're hitting pretty good now, just wait till Justin Morneau comes back from the DL.

Ripken and Jeter are once in a lifetime players. We might not see a player like those two is a VERY long time.

Heck, what's the current longest streak for most consecutive games played? Three-hundred something by Prince Fielder I believe? And he's on the heavy side. Nobody is touching Ripken's streak in any of our lifetimes.

It's funny because it's true, never thought I'd see a Yankees fan joke about A-Rod juicing.

I've never exactly seen an overabundance of love for A-Rod even from Yankee fans.

You are correct that Prince Fielder has the longest current streak at 287 games. There's no way Prince ever comes near Ripkens streak. He would have to stay healthy for over 14 more seasons and there's no way someone Prince's size stays healthy that long and it's highly unlikely he'll be in MLB that long. I'd be surprised if anyone gets over 1,000 consecutive games played again. Teams consistently sit out players to give them a break and sit them for minor injuries.

The crazy thing is he didn't want to make a big deal about stopping the streak so he just asked to be held out one day( I think against the yankees), I bet he could have kept it going

Pavano was a wreck when he was with the Yankees..now he's starting to pitch the way he is supposed to?

He actually said something to the effect of "I just wanted to see what a day off felt like."

Probably one of the best sports fan signs I ever saw was when Cal passed Gehrig's record and a fan had a sign that read "Thanks for saving baseball Cal." It's actually true. Those were some dark years in the mid-90's thanks to the strike for MLB and Cal's consecutive games streak did a LOT to restore the credibility of the game.

Miguel Tejada did reach 1,152 consecutive games in 2007 before missing a game which was impressive. But ya, it's going to be a very long time before anyone reached 1,000 games again yet alone come remotely close to 2,000.

Looks like the Twins are going to finish a 3-0 sweep of the Royals and improve to 9-1 in their last 10 games.

And a couple weeks ago you were talking about how much the Twins sucked. I really need to make it up there for a game soon. I want to check out their new park. The Metrodome was by far the worst stadium in baseball, and it's still the worst stadium in football.

It sure provided them a decisive edge in past playoffs. Namely the two World Series they won by going 0-6 on the road and 8-0 at home. But ya, it was BADLY dated. The only stadium I can think of as bad was the old Olympic Stadium where the Expos played at when they were in Montreal.

I need to get up there myself and yes I admit, when we were in the middle of winning 10 of 25 games, I was pretty pissed, feeling better about them right now though. Hope they can keep it up and make it at least 15 of 20.
