Well the Rays-Twins game should be interesting tonight. Tampa is starting Jeremy Hellickson for his first MLB appearance. This guy has a lot of potential and was a solid 12-3 with a 2.45 ERA in AAA this year. He'll have his work cut out for him against the Twins lineup.

I swear it's like the Rays minor league farm system turns out more pitching stars every single year.

Oh wow Morneau and Mauer are both out? I was looking at the injury report and it looks that way.

Morneau is our best bat, I had no idea Mauer is injured too, that really sucks.

At least Young and Valencia have been on fire lately.

Mauer is day to day, but according to ESPN he isn't playing today.

How many games is Ryan Howard expected to miss? I assume since he wasn't placed on the DL, he isn't expected to miss much more than their next series.

It's 4-1 now. This guy Hellickson is lights out in his MLB debut. So far 5 IP, 2 hits, 1 run. Of course it's obvious a lot of that is due to the Twins two best hitters out of action.

Pavano is getting worked, I imagine unless we score a run or two in the 6th that he will get relieved by the bullpen.

He's still having a very good year. His ERA is only a fraction higher than Liriano. If the Twins had their starting pitching from a few years ago to go with this year's offense they'd be on par with the Rays and Yankees as one of the best in baseball.

Liriano and Pavano might be (and probably are) good enough to help them win the AL Central but I cannot see how they will be enough to make it past the Divisional Series against teams like the Yankees, Rays or Rangers. Their third and fourth string guys Slowey and Baker just aren't very good.

Burnett pitched like crap for the Yankees tonight, 8 ER in 4.2 IP. A-Rod is 0-3 with 2K's. He's dead intent on drawing out this 600th HR it seems.

After 3 home sellouts against the Yankees the Rays home attendance falls right back down to 17K... pathetic for a team that is likely to be tied with the Yankees at 66-39 for the best record in baseball after tonight.

That collision at home plate with the high prospect Indian's catcher Carlos Santana looked really nasty. What a way to start your career. Hope he is ok.

Baker's ERA is 5, still not sure how he's 10-5, talk about getting good run support.
