I doubt it but perpetual hope is the right of a fan. Twins on a 9-1 run and should be on a 7 game winning streak after Pavano beats the Sox tonight. Twins have a 10-4 edge on the Sox this year, kind of makes you wonder why some people think the division will be close.

That loss hurt the Twins. But they did pickup Capps from the Nats for basically nothing. I'm just not convinced their starting pitching is good enough to beat the Yankees or Rays in a 5 or 7 game series and maybe not the Rangers either. Liriano and Pavano are a nice 1-2 but they have very poor starters at the 3 and 4 spots. If I were the Twins I'd go with a 3-man rotation in the playoffs and hope for the best.

The Twins have the same problem they always do, their top starters do not match up against the aces of the other playoff teams. I would probably name 7 or 8 of the best starters in the playoffs before getting to Liriano or Pavano. Cliff Lee, Sabathia, David Price, etc. would all be favored against whoever the Twins start for game 1 of a series.

CLEMENS CHARGED WITH PERJURY OVER TESTIMONY TO U.S. CONGRESS
WASHINGTON -- Roger Clemens was vehement: "Let me be clear. I have never taken steroids or HGH," he told a House committee in 2008. Now, instead of the Hall of Fame, baseball's seven-time Cy Young winner could go to prison after being indicted by a federal grand jury Thursday for allegedly lying to Congress. The case writes a new chapter in one of baseball's worst scandals, the rampant use of performance-enhancing drugs in the 1990s and early 2000s, and leaves Clemens' legacy in jeopardy. The six-count indictment alleges that Clemens obstructed a congressional inquiry with 15 different statements made under oath, including denials that he had ever used steroids or human growth hormone. Former Rep. Tom Davis of Virginia, the top Republican on the House panel at the time of Clemens' testimony, called it "a self-inflicted wound." Clemens had been prominently mentioned in the Mitchell Report, Major League Baseball's own accounting of its steroid problem, and he went to Capitol Hill on his own to clear his name. "Clemens was not under subpoena. He came voluntarily," Davis said. "And I sat there in the office with (committee chairman) Henry Waxman and said, 'Whatever you do, don't lie."' I'll bet the Phillies are regretting dealing Cliff Lee more than ever after this. This Gillies kid was supposedly a top prospect.
