But he should be ready for the playoffs....right? Unlike last year where Mauer was flying solo for Twins in the post season.

This year we have Thome, Cuddyer, Kubel, Young and Valencia who are all hitting well. Heck Hudson and Span are hitting okay too, which will make it hard for a team without a deep pitching staff to go 3-4 games with us in the post-season.

I find it odd that the NL won that game considering the AL seems to have the best teams in baseball right now, honestly I think the WS is the AL's to lose this year.

So if the Phills can stay healthy for the post season and build momentum they could be tough to beat. Their starting pitching is really strong with Halladay, Hamels, and Oswalt plus they have one of the most potent offenses with Howard, Rollins and Utley. In my mind there the best team in the NL. I'm predicting they'll beat the Twins in the World Series. |

"The Twins are going to win the World Series! The Twins have won it! It's a base hit, it's a one-nothing, ten-inning victory!"
—Jack Buck, calling Gene Larkin's World Series-clinching base hit in Game 7. Just a little blast from the past the last time the Twins won the World Series in 1991 over the Braves in 7 games. Man I still remember the players back then; Kirby Puckett, Kent Hrbek, Gene Larkin, Terry Pendleton, Jack Morris. ESPN had a World Series 100th Aniversary countdown and picked the 1991 World Series between the Twins and the Braves as the best of alltime. Five of its games were decided by a single run, four games decided in the final at-bat and three games going into extra innings. Epic!! |

It's not really odd at all. Single games don't tell you who the better team is (or league in this case). If they do then the Orioles are the better team because they beat the Yankees today.

Actually as weird as it is to say the Orioles have been playing some good ball for the past month or so. They're 20-13 since Showalter became manager in early August.
Showalter has always had good creditionals as a manager as he built the Yankees, Rangers, and Diamond Backs into winners. Instead of rolling over and dying like they tended to do in previous seasons, Showalter has brought a measure of stability to an instable organization and has this team competing like they're in a pennant race. Interesting to see how the Orioles fare next season with a fresh start to work with. NOTE: Showalter's contract is good through the 2013 season Last edited by Glassroots; 09-08-2010 at 06:56 AM. |

Although I agree the Orioles are a number of years away from being taking seriously, reaching .500 in the AL East would be a more realistic goal for the future. |
