Although I agree the Orioles are a number of years away from being taking seriously, reaching .500 in the AL East would be a more realistic goal for the future.
Someone needs to tell me why it seems like every year the Twins are so mediocre before the All Star break then catch fire and barrel into the post-season, it really makes it annoying to follow them before the All Star game. Series we have coming up - Indians, White Sox, Athletics, Tigers, Royals, Blue Jays. Expecting to win at least 12 of 18 of those, if not 14 or more, which will probably pretty much wrap up the division for us. Might be close though, White Sox also have an easy stretch to end the season.

The Jays will be a tough series, as the Jays would be a contender if they weren't stuck in the strongest division in baseball.
The league really needs to think about moving either New York or Toronto into the Central and put the Tigers back in the East where they used to be.

No idea if they have division re-allocation plans right now but I like the Central the way it is. Good battle every year between the Twins and the Sox with the Tigers giving a bit of a push and the Indians bringing up the rear.

Don't forget about the basement dwellers from Kansas City. LOL
I always wonder how teams like Pittsburgh, and Kansas City create revenue when there teams are always terrible and no fans attend there games.

Is there some sort of shared revenue policy (baseball welfare) that keeps these weak franchises afloat. Don't get it.

Yup shared revenue as far as I know or teams like the Royals, Expos and Orioles would've been contracted long ago. Heck I remember the Twins almost got contracted awhile back, even though they're one of the best teams in the history of baseball.

You're going to take 6 wins away from Showalter's record because it was at the start?... Then how about taking 11 wins away from the Twins because they were against the Mariners, Royals, and A's...

So if the Phills can stay healthy for the post season and build momentum they could be tough to beat. Their starting pitching is really strong with Halladay, Hamels, and Oswalt plus they have one of the most potent offenses with Howard, Rollins and Utley. In my mind there the best team in the NL.

I'm predicting they'll beat the Twins in the World Series.
The Twins will be one and done again this year; no way they make The Series.

Of course you like it the way it is. Throw NY, Boston, or TB in your division and you'd never have a chance at winning it. I'd feel the same way if I was a fan of an AL Central team.

That logic makes no sense. They have been 20-13 under Buck Showalter, plain and simple. It doesn't matter how they got there.

I'd argue we're better than Boston and Tampa Bay but New York has our number for some reason so if they were in the Central then we'd have to hope for a wild card every year.

I tend to agree. New York fans IMO are spoiled. God forbid they should ever miss the playoffs ( the earth may stop spinning).

Yankee hater for life and proud to admit it.

Yup, hate on hater. You should be putting your anger towards your team instead.

They're definitely good at winning championships... 27 and counting. And last time I checked, that was the point of playing the game.

How 'bout them Orioles on the other hand? Well, I guess every division needs a cellar dweller.

College and Pro Football (the real American pasttime) season is starting anyway.

Nobody I know is even paying attention to 2nd-tier sports like MLB anymore. Well except for a few MLB fantasy geeks that is. Notice the NFL season thread already has double the posts of this thread and the regular season hasn't even started while the MLB season is almost over.

It's probably been a month since I've even watched an MLB game. I'd rather see my NFL team win one Super Bowl before seeing my favorite MLB team win three championships. And most sports fans probably feel the same way. NFL is king.

I think they're still hanging onto a playoff spot but it's been awhile since I bothered checking the standings. I don't bother buying the MLB season ticket thing on TV. Honestly I probably watch about 20 MLB games each year tops anymore. And that's just to fill time between the NBA and NFL seasons.

No that's OK I'll just continue to hate on the Yankees, thankyou very much.

I'm actually happy the way the Jays played, they exceeded my expectations and are continuing to grow. You should know we beat you guys in the season series.
How could I be mad with an orgainzation that developes players to build a team instead buying all the talent to win Championships.
