I wasn't talking about past achievements. I'm talking about from here on out. The Giants have abused Lincecum badly in short career so far. And I think it's showing this year. The Dodgers have slowly brought along Kershaw and he's bested Timmy in just about every stat this year.

2010
Tim: ERA - 3.60 - AVG - .248 - WHIP - 1.31
Kers: ERA - 2.85 - AVG - .217 - WHIP - 1.19

Career
Tim: ERA - 3.08 - AVG - .225 - WHIP - 1.19
Kers: ERA - 3.15 - AVG - .222 - WHIP - 1.27

You may laugh and say they aren't on the same level but the stats don't lie, they have very similar numbers so far. Only difference one is progressing, the other is regressing.

Jason LaRue told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Saturday that he will retire due to concerns over his season-ending concussion.
LaRue was kicked in the face multiple times by Reds pitcher Johnny Cueto during a scuffle in Cincinnati back in August. He's still experiencing headaches and nausea, something he likened to seasickness. "It's one of the hardest things in the world to explain," said the catcher. "You don't feel right. ... I'm done. It's a simple decision." The 36-year-old is likely to officially file retirement papers this offseason. He had a .231/.315/.396 career batting line over 11-plus seasons of professional baseball. Stats def dont lie and yes Lincecum has regressed this year... but what pitcher doesn't have a bad month? Hes already rebounded pretty well... I mean dont get me wrong i think Kershaw is a pretty good pitcher and can be great.... But Lincecum is already there, hes already a great pitcher.... And how can we not talk about past achievements when comparing two players who were drafted the same year?

Like i sad, when Kershaw wins a Cy Young... than we'll talk....

ha sorry about that! didnt want to go back and see who posted... but idk why i dont like him... theres just something about him i dont like... he makes many many head scratching moves throughout the year that just drives me nuts!

and he also kind of seems in "awe" of some of the guys like Jeter and Arod... when he should look at all the players the same and just manage them... i dont think hes done anything to really stand out as a great manager...i think anyone could have stepped in and done what hes done really

I think the Steinbrenner plaque is ridiculous (not in a good way). That is all.

It was nice seeing Torre back in Yankee Stadium (or there for the first time, technically). Bummer the whole Dodgers/Yankees WS never got to happen (and that inter-league play had to happen in LA this year).

As for the Girardi talk, I think he's going to leave, and I don't think winning the World Series really matters at all for him, though I can see it argued either way (if he wins again, he has nothing else to do, might as well leave, but I think it's harder to leave as manager of the reigning World Champs). If nothing else, it will certainly raise his asking price.

The Cubs are probably going to offer Girardi a ton of money, and he'll be going back home. The Yankees will probably match the offer, and likely exceed it, but it's probably not worth the added stress of being the NYY manager, vs any other team. Being Yankee manager involves more than managing the team, including things like the weekly Joe Girardi Show that he has to do on the Yankee channel (when Torre was negotiating a deal to return as manager after the '07 playoffs, part of the deal he was asking for involved only managing the team, as he didn't want to do the other crap, like the Joe Torre Show anymore).

Girardi can make a ton of money, and have a losing team with the Cubs, and nobody will care, because it's par for the course. If the Yankees do anything but win the World Series, Girardi probably gets his a_s chewed out by the front office.

Twins up 8-3, wish Duensing could've played more than 6 innings to give our bullpen a bit of a break.

Honestly, good riddance to Girardi, hope he leaves. But in reality, i dont see him leaving. i mean look at the team hes got and that Tampa team will be dismantled next year leaving only a race between NY and Boston really...so it shouldnt be too hard to make the playoffs and make another run...i want him to leave but honestly dont know who would replace him, so in that regard i guess id want him to stay...

and whoever said the plaque was too big in a bad way... it is massive lol... but hey, the guy is an icon and deserves it

Phil's win again, out to a 4 game lead with an 8 game win streak in hand.9 and 1 in the last 10 games. I think the Braves have finally come back down to earth they were looking good for awhile. I would love to see the Phils sweep em , yes another D-Bag fan ran on to the field, he must of been a Met's Fan

*Why do the Phillies play better when Rollins is watching,

If Joe G does leave, Tony Pena would be a front runner for the job.

Several reasons: one, he's aging. two, Cholly has him improperly pegged as a lead-off hitter--he ain't. Rollins was NEVER an ideal lead-off hitter, and only really had the job because there wasn't anyone better. Victorino is still not, in my mind, ideal... but a bit better fit than Rollins has been. Thus, with Victorino at the top the line-up just feels more balanced than with J-Roll at the top. If Rollins can come back and hits in the 6-8 holes rather than being plugged into the lead-off spot, that'll be ideal.

For an organization that seems to pride itself on its history, the huge plaque seems like it discredits the importance of all the past players/managers/owners. Yogi Berra won 10 World Series in his 17 years as Yankee catcher. The Steinbrenner-owned Yankees won 7 in the 37 years he owned the team.

I was fine with Steinbrenner getting a monument (which is more rare in Monument Park, as only 5 people have them), but the monstrosity of a monument they gave him on the back wall seems like it's too much.

Edit: I forgot, there were actually 6 monuments in Monument Park (7 now). 5 were Yankees, and 1 was the 9/11 monument. Steinbrenner's plaque is easily the biggest of them all, and is bigger (5'x7', so 35 square feet) than the 5 other Yankee ones combined. I'm not positive, but I think they have to cover up the Steinbrenner monument during each game, because it's so big, and sticks up above the wall, that it is distracting for hitters. Kind of crazy. I'll check when I go to the game Saturday, to find out for sure.

I can only imagine Pena as an interim manager, but then again, there aren't too many options out there. I guess they could give Mattingly a call, but he's unproven as a manager (unless you count the game he managed when Torre was suspended).
