On another note Giants starting pitching has gone 17 straight games now giving up 3 runs or less & leads the MLB for the lowest ERA for Sept..

9 games left with only half game lead
So you have the best pitching staff in baseball right now but your hitting is so bad it doesn't matter, not sure what to say...

Mauer is out right now with a knee injury/scope, good thing for us Butera doesn't suck. Morneau has been out since late July with a concussion, in the NFL a lot of players would've been back the next week, pretty much convinced at this point his season's over. Oh and Francisco Liriano will be our first pitcher in the post-season.

2008- 3 HR

2009-13 HR

2010-50 HR

I wanna give him the benefit of the doubt but I just can’t. Those numbers just don’t make sense.

Look at Joe Mauer, 28 HRs one season, don't think he has close to that the last 2 seasons combined but yeah I get the point. A lot of the Boo Jays are suddenly really good at the long ball it's kind of suspicious.

He's drug tested like the rest of the players in the league, so there's no way he could cheat his way to 50 hrs.

The numbers do jump dramatically but then again he was playing for the lowly Pirates where losing is considered the norm.

Bautista is now been given starters playing time in Toronto plus the Jays Offense has a free swinging approach that seems to suit Bautista well. I will be interested to see how he performs next year.

Remember Cito Gastons tenure coaching the Jays back in the early 90s, those teams also has had great hitters (Olerud, Molidor, Alomar, Carter).
Citos always been great with hitters, and works to there strengths.

This year is no exception, he allows the players to just swing away.

but they dont test for HGH. If Baustista was using some type of performance enhancing drung, he could easily use a super unknown masking agent to cover it up that wont show up in the drug test

Those 3 HRs in '08 were with Toronto... He hit another 12 with the Pirates, so it's actually 15 for the season... Still you make a valid point...

I think the owners would be just as much against a cap as the players union. Let's say hypothetically they set a cap at $100 million. They would also have to set a salary floor, probably around $70 million. With those restrictions you'd get no votes from the Yankees, Red Sox, Phillies, Mets, and Cubs, along with low-spending teams like the Marlins, Pirates, A's, Indians, Royals, and Rays.

I heard this morning that in Felix Hernandez' 12 losses he's gotten a total of 14 runs from his offense. He went 8 innings yesterday and gave up 1 run but got no offensive support and took the loss. I don't think Cy Young voters will be able to look past Hernandez' 12-12 record but he's really been fantastic. Felix leads the AL in ERA, strikeouts and innings pitched, is second in WHIP, and third in complete games, but plays for a team that is by far the worst scoring in baseball. The Mariners have scored 481 runs. The next lowest total is the Pirates at 537. The Yankees have scored 332 more runs than the Mariners.

Not so much. He was going for 20 wins in his last start of '09 and got hammered worse than yesterday. Then went on to pitch to a 1.98 ERA in five postseason starts.

if hes using or not using who cares? its still entertaining baseball.... where would baseball be right now if it werent for Sosa and McGwire HR chase back in 98... or even Bonds in 2001... Bottom line is everyone loves the long ball, and will pay to see it... I'm not saying what they did was right, but one time or another we all cheered these players for hitting all these Homeruns!

Come on the guy just hit 50 HR which is a great accomplishment, why question it? just enjoy it...

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire acknowledged Friday that Justin Morneau (concussion) won't be back before the end of the regular season.
"I don't see how it can possibly happen for him," said Gardy, when probed about a possible late September or early October return. The jury is still out as to his status for the playoffs, but Morneau hasn't yet begun strenuous baseball activities and may struggle to play another game in 2010. The big first baseman has been sidelined with a concussion since early July. Sep. 24 - 1:47 pm et

And that unfortunately is going to be the downfall of the sport. In this day in age, you need a salary cap in professional sports. Otherwise the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

They're definitely the favorite to win the World Series right now, with their three-headed pitching monster. At this point, I can't see any team beating them, even the Yankees.

Just imagine if they can find the cash to resign Werth after the season, they will be contenders for the next several years as long as their pitchers stay healthy.
