Some quotes from the Rays on their fans. Pretty sad.

"Had a chance to clinch a postseason spot tonight with about 10,000 fans in the stands...embarrassing" - David Price

"For us to play 155 games and go a full season of playing really good baseball it's kind of like, what else do we have to do to draw fans into this place? It's actually embarrassing for us" - Evan Longoria.

And then Price felt bad and ended up apologizing via Twitter.

It's really sad that they can't draw any attendance, no matter how good they do. The fans don't know how good they have it, but apparently they just don't care. Chicago Cubs fans would kill for a team like the Rays, and would fill up Wrigley almost every game.

Makes me wonder if the press coverage and the twitter posts will have any effect on the fan attendance tonight, I know their attendance is historically low but is it possible that some of the so called fans are not even aware that they are on the verge of clinching, really too bad for a team that's playing to their fullest, they surely have more fans that don't live in that area.

I just don't get the feeling that people in Florida like baseball.

It's totally a college football state. The state cares about Florida, Florida State, and Miami, and then there's a huge drop-off to the pro sports. Even high school football is a bigger deal than any pro team.

That's what I meant. Also, the Rays are supposedly giving away 20k tix for tonight's game. It won't surprise me if they don't give them all away. Tampa Bay doesn't care about the Rays.

Also it is 2 parts. Part 1 was tonight was called top of the 10th. Tomorrow night is part 2 called Bottom of the 10th.

Seeding for the Yanks and Rays is not set yet (it depends on who finishes 1st and who's the WC).
