Cubs are within a game of first in the NL Central, but I'm worried they are going to get fatigued. They've played fewer games than all the other teams and after today's off day they play 31 games in a 32 day span and 45 games in 47 days. They actually only have 4 days off the rest of the season. Their starting pitchers rarely go more than 7 innings so this could put a strain on their already thin bullpen. Not sure if they'll go after anyone before the trade deadline. Haven't heard anything, but they could use a left-handed bat or left-handed relief pitcher.

I just don't see the upside for Toronto if Halladay goes and Ricciardi stays, need better direction.

I was playing in a best shot golf event yesterday and after the first 9 we went in the clubhouse and it was right at the start of the 9th so I got to see the catch and the end of the perfect game. Couldn't have timed it any better.

Just heard Lenny Dykstra this morning on Dan Patrick's show, and I highly recommend everyone go to danpatrick.com and download the interview. Dykstra is so full of crap it's hilarious. He says his investing record is 115 wins (a win is defined as making at least $1,000), and no losses. From what I've read he has no losses because he'll recommend buying a stock and if it goes down he'll never recommend selling it, and therefore never record it as a loss. He also says all his financial problems are due to frivolous lawsuits and his divorce, and he will eventually be vindicated and known as a great investing guru.

Sounds like the Cardinals have obtained Matt Holliday for 3 players. ESPN is reporting the deal as close to being done, but I heard on the radio it's a done deal. As a Cubs fan I'm not happy about this as it should significantly help the Cardinals. It's not known if Oakland is throwing any money into the deal to help cover the $6 million Holliday is owed for the rest of the year. I'll be curious if the Cardinals offer Holliday arbitration, since there's a decent chance he'd accept it as it'd likely be around $16 million. If they don't offer arbitration they won't get any draft picks as compensation if he'd leave.

Saw that HBO special with him a few weeks ago, that was hilarious yet at the same time he seems so oblivious to his financial demise.
