That is a terrible attitude especially considering your team is only one of four that made the playoffs in the AL, and won its division rather convincingly.

Guess you missed the manner in which they lost 8 of their last 10 games and two of their best hitters are either hurt or won't play at all in the post-season.

They really didnt have a ton to gain by having the best record, so maybe they mailed in the last two weeks of the season.

So Joe Torre retires today (at least with LA). His first two years were the most exciting times for the Dodgers since 1988. Thanks for those two years Joe. It was kind of an awkward moment when he thanked Frank McCourt (owner) as the whole stadium started to boo.

Nice last game for the 18yr vet Brad Ausmus as well as he ended his career with two base hits including his last AB. 1 injury (this yr) in 18 years as a catcher. Pretty incredible. He received a very nice round of applause walking off the field.

Pretty lousy year for the Dodgers but at least the last game was enjoyable.
Dodgers 2011!!

ahha, you need to relax man... anything can happen in the playoffs... its a brand new season essentially... the yanks were swept by the Orioles not too long ago but that means nothin....

So Jerry Manuel has been fired and the Mets GM has pretty much been fired also(stripped of GM duties), wonder where the Mets go from here.

There's going to be a lot of manager jobs available this offseason. The Brewers have fired manager Ken Macha. The Pirates are expected to fire manager John Russell today. Tony La Russa has hinted that he might not return to the Cardinals. There's no guarantee Joe Girardi returns to the Yankees. The Diamondbacks job is open, but it's expected interim coach Kirk Gibson will keep the job. And of course, the Cubs, Marlins, Mets, Braves, Blue Jays, and Dodgers jobs are open. I think I've listed all the current and potential openings, but I easily could have missed some.

Edit: Forgot to include the Mariners.

You're right, and I knew that, I worded my statement wrong. I meant to imply teams who had at one point had a managerial opening to show just how much turnover there's been this year. There's been at least 6 firings and 4 retirements (depending on if you classify Torre and Piniella as retirements since their contracts were up and they wouldn't have chosen to come back nor would they have been offered a new contract) and we could see more openings depending on La Russa's decision and what happens with the Yankees.

I really think Joe Torre is going to return for one last stint as a manager. I can't see him taking time off and then returning as he is 70 now. He seems like he wants to remain in the game, just not with the Dodgers and their messy owners.
