He'll prob get a 4-5 year deal. AJ is getting like 14 mill a year so expect Jeter to be getting a little more than that....

and Jeter is still a good SS...he ranked in top 10 in all stats for a SS....played in the most games, recorded the most outs and even with his "bad" year, he was still among the top SS offensively....

Some Jeter stats:

Runs scored: 1st (though there's surely some benefit to being on the Yankees for this)
Hits: 1st (batting leadoff may help a bit here)
Doubles: 9th
Triples: 23rd
HRs: 12th
RBIs: 9th (again, he may benefit from playing on the Yankees)
Walks: 3rd (again, batting leadoff may help here)
Ks: 5th (as in, 5th most... not a category you want to lead in)
SB: 8th
BA: 10th
OBP: 8th
SLG: 14th
OPS: 11th

Defensively he's an average shortstop, but overall he's still somewhat above average.

For comparison, the salaries of people with similar stats to Jeter's (adjusted for games played, if necessary):

Reyes: $9 million
Scutaro: $5.5 million
Peralta: $4.85 million

Jeter made $18.9 million this year.

I'd almost forgotten about Beck. Still can't believe he's been gone for over 3 years now. As a Braves fan I remember 1993 well. That Giants team won like 103 games and missed the playoffs since there was no Wild Card. The Giants that year were one of the greatest teams of all-time to miss the playoffs. Beck had 48 saves that year and was practically unhittable.

Sadly he did die about 3 years ago. I believe he was found dead in Arizona. The details still appear to be murky but cocaine and other drugs are believed to be the cause.

Nuns Sell Honus Wagner Card for $262,000

A rare Honus Wagner baseball card that was bequeathed to an order of Roman Catholic nuns has sold at auction for $262,000.

The Baltimore-based School Sisters of Notre Dame put the card up for sale after inheriting it from the brother of a deceased nun. The sale price exceeded the expectations of auctioneers at Dallas-based Heritage Auction Galleries.

The nuns will receive $220,000 from the sale. The total sale price includes a 19.5 percent buyer's premium. Sister Virginia Muller, who was entrusted with the card, says the proceeds will go to the order's ministries in more than 30 countries around the world.

World Series champion Brian Wilson is getting the Betty White treatment from fans on Facebook. They want the San Francisco Giants' quirky closer to host "SNL" and have started a campaign to get him — and his jet-black beard — an invite.
White hosted "SNL" last spring after a drive by more than 500,000 people on the social networking site landed her the gig. The fan page for Wilson went up about a week ago and he's received more than 3,200 "like" votes.
