I think Smoltz could be decent as a reliever, but it appears he will be a starter. I'm not sure if this is a good experiment as the Cardinals currently have a decent lead in the division and this could screw it up.

I would absolutely love to see Philly rock the Yankees in the World Series, since I think they may be the only ones who could at this point.

Dodgers signed Vicente Padilla who was released by Texas. I just hope he doesn't bring any negativity to L.A. Like they need anymore.

If the Cubs don't make a late run I don't think Sweet Lou is going to return to the Cubs next year. I think he'll retire, although with a new owner it's not out of the question he could be fired. What is sad is the Cubs don't really lose any of their big money players so the team should be almost identical next year. Rich Harden is a free agent but he spends half the time on the DL so he wouldn't be a big loss. Luckily Kevin Gregg only signed a 1 year contract so he'll be gone. Reed Johnson is the only fielder with an expiring contract but he too spends a lot of time on the DL so they could likely get him on a 1 year contract if they wanted him back.

Kudos to the kid for being 22 years old and pitching at the big league level in the tough AL East.

Even the great Roy Halladay had these sort of games and was even sent to A-Ball early in his career... as any baseball fan would know.

Yeah, things weren't looking so good for Halladay back in, what was it, 2001? I hope Matsuzaka can pull off even 50% of that comeback.

Sox Yanks in Fenway tonight, Sox can't afford another rotten performance. The weather today is truly awful, hot & humid, with thunderstorms heading towards Boston as we speak/type. Hopefully we can avoid a rain-out.
