First of all, I love Rivera and I hate the Yankees (Mets fan). But yopu have to be wary of his strikeout numbers. His K-rate has diminished significantly, and while that doesn't mean he will slide, there is a chance you will see regression soon. But Rivera knows how to pitch and he does have two years left and I can still see him being elite. But there is a chance. I would still put my money on Rivera though.

As for Soriano, I can see him easily losing it after a season or two more. Rivera's come along once every 2-3 decades and I highly doubt Soriano will take over like Yankee fans hope.

That doesn't mean anything. He's getting a lot of ground ball outs.

They did not ruin him. If anything, Chamberlian is his own worst enemy. And I still find it amazing that he is talked about so much after all this time. He came up, dominated for a little while as a reliever and then has shown nothing since. And that was three years ago. You hear stories like this all the time so why is he still being talked about as if could have been the second coming.

lol guess you missed the musical chairs they played with him going for the pen, to starter, to closer and round and round it went for years prior to the championship... I think everyone saw with Papelbon for example they tried him as a starter for a year he was average to below average so they stuck him right back in as closer they didn't go relief, starter, closer, starter, relief exc. exc.

thing is, we didnt have room for him as a regular starter...i still think he will come around...

He would play the same role Marcus Thames had last season. He'll play only against lefties and spot some of the OF's a day off. Jones can play in the OF and Thames can't.

Thames was only signed for last season (he actually was invited to camp last year and made the team). He's not going to be brought back if Jones is brought in.
