Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports reports that the Yankees are nearing a one-year contract with free agent outfielder Andruw Jones.
Jones will be asked to serve as the Yankees' fourth outfielder behind starters Brett Gardner, Curtis Granderson and Nick Swisher. It's believed that the two sides will eventually come to a two-year deal. The Twins are focusing on their arbitration-eligible players at the moment, according to Christensen, and will get around to working out the details with Pavano later in the week. He had no consistent role because he never lived up to any role given to him after that first few months he came up. He could have held on to whatever role was designated, but he did not cut it.

Mets signed Chris Young. He'll be a Met once his ohysical is done (if he passes). Odds that both Capuano and Young last the entire season or even half ?

Maybe Lacit or Wingman can comment better but from what I recall he was excelling and they started pushing innings and hoping he'd become a starter, then the bouncing around happened.

He came out the game on fire and then they pampered him with the whole innings limit (ergo that's where the "Joba rules" line came from) and then when he became a starter, it didn't pan out. He moved to the pen and has continued to struggle.

According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, there is a "belief" that the Cardinals want to keep an Albert Pujols extension to seven years or less.
The two sides have kept negotiations very close to the vest, and Heyman acknowledges that with a couple of caveats in his introduction. So we wouldn't consider much of this as gospel. Heyman heard that Pujols wants a contract similar to Alex Rodriguez's 10-year, $275 million monstrosity with the Yankees but that the Cardinals are hoping to keep the total worth under $200 million.
