Are they mad? didn't they learn from the Vazquez fiasco last season? they really love to bring back people who struggled here before. Thank the boss that the Twins gave him a 2yr deal (and he thankfully took it).

yea, not sure what they were even thinking of talking to Pavano...i mean, i know we need another pitcher, but i dont think that would have been a good idea

I didn't think they were that desperate. I'm just glad he's going back to St. Paul and not the South BX.

Also in other Yankees news (and good news as well), Andy Pettitte has been working out so that's a positive on his decision on whether or not to play or retire (he has yet to announce his decision).

One year for $2 mill sounds reasonable. You don't give a guy like that more than 1 year. I'd actually like to see Andruw make a nice comeback. He was always one of my favorite players on the Braves and was headed for the HOF at one point.

Hey, if he does a solid job here, he might get a longer deal.

thats encouraging news... now i know we obviously need another starter, but was curious as to why Joba starting again wasnt an option if Andy does retire... any ideas? or was it talked about

Because he can't hang as a starter and they are not going to trade him while his value is low.

hes never started a full season has he? i know he hasnt lived up to expectations... but with all the Joba rules and that crap, you would think he would get another shot?

Ya, because nothing is better for a young clubhouse than Manny Ramirez and all his drama. Does anyone actually think this will pan out for Tampa? Seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

the roster now has a chance instead of none (even though the pitching staff has been gutted)

I've never cared about Tampa too much. For me the Rays are merely the lesser of evils in the AL East. I'm a lifelong Braves fan.
