The super Nova is pitching very well so far (last year he threw so many pitches in his starts that he wouldn't last past the 5 inning because he felt that he had to always get strikeouts and that ground ball/fly outs were bad).

The glamour of LA eventually gets to everyone. When he came up, he worked harder than everyone. Then he realized he could be casually dating smoking hot babes like Alyssa Milano and partying all the time and it went downhill. He did admit after leaving he became lazy. When you play a demanding position like catcher, you really do have to work harder to counter the abuse the body takes behind the plate.

Of course if I were to have my pick of a player's rings I'd go with this guy... More rings (11) than fingers. And amazingly enough he played only 13 NBA seasons. Ya, he actually won NBA championships in 11 of 13 seasons. And two of those seasons he was also Boston's head coach.

Navster...I flipped over to the Giants game between innings of the Jays game and noticed the writing and numbers on their jerseys is Gold. How come?

Interesting. I was doing a search to try and see what those championship rings cost and came across this on Ebay. It's a 1983 Baltimore Orioles actual championship ring. The "Buy it Now" price is $3,500.

You'd be surprised at how real some of these replicas look for a couple hundred bucks or less.

I'm still scratching my head at how well Baltimore's pitching has been. They shutout a terrific Rangers lineup today 5-0. I figured the O's offense would be improved this year but not the pitching.

EDIT - Nevermind. Now I see Baltimore gave up 13 runs in the other game of a double-header. lol
