Correct, and as he said, it's why the MLB is digging it's own grave and why the NFL is America's pasttime and future. Most sports fans care more about the NFL combine and draft or release of season schedule than care about the World Series these days. Why should the sports fan in most MLB cities get behind a team (Pittsburgh, KC, Oakland, Florida, etc.) with ownership that won't spend a time? And don't say small market because KC and Pittsburgh aren't considered small-market in the NFL. The MLB and it's archaic economic system actually is digging it's own grave.

Exactly. Which is why a salary floor is just as necessary as a cap. All other major sports have both of those.

Cap is not needed. A salary floor is because that's the only way that revenue sharing will work.

And that is something I'd love to see. I've long believed a floor is more necessary than a cap. It would prevent deadbeat owners (Pirates, Royals, etc.) from year after year fielding a garbage team just so they can maximize the profits they get from the luxury tax teams.

Jeez man, does Toronto even care about the Blue Jays anymore? Sky Dome (yeah I know it's called Rogers Center but that sounds stupid) is not even 1/4 filled.

I heard on the radio today that they sold out that stadium (over 50,000) very quickly for a UFC event in two weeks. Apparently they care more about fighting than baseball up there. The Jays have never had a great following, even when they were successful.

Dodger Stadium is looking pretty bare these days. It was the first time in awhile this past week they reached in the 20K mark.

In baseball overall attendance is down (even at Yankee stadium we've barely averaging over 40,000 but the weather hasn't been good since opening day) but it's been real bad in Toronto for years.

I believe attendance is pretty consistent here in Twins town. With several sellouts at Target Field.

Ya... I looked it up and so far just 4 teams have >90% home seats filled. Philadelphia and Boston reach 100% and San Francisco and Minnesota are a shade under 100%. Yankees have filled 83% of their seats.

http://espn.go.com/mlb/attendance

Cleveland is just getting sad. I remember Jacobs rocking non-stop sellouts in the 90's. This year they are by far the worst in MLB at 14,391 per game. Last season they were also dead last at 17K. I know Cleveland is a dying city but if you can't beat KC, Florida or Tampa in attendance you really don't deserve a team.

It is pretty astounding how much attendance soared for the Twins once they finally got a new stadium. The old Metrodome was pure garbage.

I laugh that the sellouts are being bragged about in Boston when place only holds about 35,000. I'm not sure how many citizens bank park holds.

Can't argue with that. Lol. The roof is still collapsed. Better get it fixed before football season.

LOL I always called it a glad bag. That place was terrible. Though it did play a role in both the Twins championships. Nobody opposing team ever won a World Series game there. I should know being a Braves fan...

Looks like Citizens holds about 45K. The Phils have had great attendance for a lot of years now.
