Was just looking up the current stats for MLB in 2011. Looks like the avg runs per game is continuing it's downward track. It's been on the decline since around 2000. Seems the crackdown on steroids is playing no small role here. This is the lowest scoring season since 1992.

2011 - 4.29
2010 - 4.38
2009 - 4.61
2008 - 4.65
2007 - 4.80
2006 - 4.86
.....
2000 - 5.14

Yeah we're one of the worst teams in baseball so far, doesn't help when your supposed best pitcher gets lit up all the time, you bring back bums like Pavano and your best hitters are either slumping or hurt.

I couldn't believe how empty the Dodgers game was yesterday versus the Cubs. I knew attendance was bad in LA right now but I figured a game against the Cubs, the team with the best nationwide fan base in the NL, would be enough to get some people in the seat, but apparently not. MLB should just strip McCourt's ownership and get the lawsuit going now because things aren't going to get better until he sells the team..

That just says more about the typical baseball fan in L.A. than the Dodgers, who had their ace pitching the game. The old saying was Dodgers' fans show up late to games and leave early, trying to beat traffic both ways. If you ever watch a Dodgers' home game in HD, it is real easy to spot the celebrities sitting behind home plate.

What Ethier has done is damn impressive. It's a lot harder to go on a long hit streak that the DiMaggio days for the simple reason of media pressure. I'm not saying Ethier is/was a better player just that getting a hit streak like that going is considerably harder. There are so many more media members and everyone is talking about it. Everyone.
