lol yeah... But its really worse because you guys traded for crap, at least with Zito they gave it to him based on some background he'd produce. Gilbert is just an old injury prone blogger.

The Phillies pitching staff is just ridiculous. Even with an ace on the DL they completely dominate. This kid Vance Worley shut down the Red Sox tonight. And he's basically their 5th string starter.

Well the fact that we gave up Rashard's contract almost makes it a wash. Rashard's contract was only 1 year less than Gilbert's and both are about equally useless at this point. Either way we were going to be stuck with a terrible contract. At least Rashard gave us a few very good seasons before he started sucking.

Jason Kubel was pulled from a rehab game Thursday at High-A Fort Myers after tweaking his foot.
Kubel twisted on his injured left foot while chasing a ball over his head and pulled himself from the game as a precautionary measure. "I knew I was going to have to play through a little pain," Kubel said in a phone interview, "but it was a little bit more than just a little. So I didn’t want to keep going like that." He's hoping to resume his rehab assignment Friday night.

Jurrjens is just killing it this season. He pitched a 1-hit shutout against the Orioles to improve to 11-3 with a 1.89 ERA.

As far as Uggla goes... well, it's about time to bench this guy. He's still batting .176 more than halfway through the season and struck out all four at-bats tonight. What a disaster this guy has been.

My Yankees lead the way with 6 all stars. My only gripes are that Jeter doesn't deserve to be there and how in the hell does Sabathia and Texiera get passe on? so honestly, it should be 7 Yankees representing the BX in Arizona.

I agree, Astrubal should have been the starter. It's too bad that people are voting on a name rather than performance.
Something has to change with the voting system.

Congrats to Jose Bautista for tallying the most votes, the guy is a beast and a pleasure to watch each and every at bat. Plus he tallied his 27th homerun today to beat Cliff Lee and the Phillies.

David Ortiz picks Batista and Gonzalez. I just knew he was going to pick his teammate. I am suprised he didnt pick another teammate instead of Batista.

Dont get me wrong. If your a captain and your teammate(s) are the best for the job. Then by all means, pick them. But there are 7 more people that have more Homeruns then him. Why didnt he choose one of those.

Gonzalez has 16 homeruns

Teixeira 25, Granderson 22, Konerko 21, Cruz 19,etc

Personally I think the Homerun derby should be the Top Homerun leaders(3,4 or 5) in each league.

Same with NL. Fielder should pick Berkman and Kemp. But he will probably pick Berkman and Braun or Kemp and Braun. Either way, his teammate will be there.

So the fans voted in mostly big market team players in the AL and smaller market players in the NL. Overall the fans did a better job in picking the All-Stars than they usually do. But there are a few guys, like Jeter, with no business being there.

Agreed. I like Jeter, but he has no business being there. I guess if he plays till he is 50. Fans will continue to vote him in.

Other than the one person who shouldn't be there (Jeter) and the two that should be there (Sabathia and Texeira), I have no issue with the AL selections. I actually have no beef with the NL selections.

Looks like we're about lose to the Marlins again. 5-2 top of the 8th. All of those Marlins runs in this inning. I'm glad all the guys we've got going are going to the AS game. Although I think Nelly should be going. If he hadn't missed that month or so, he'd definitely be going.

Also, Josh Hamilton shouldn't be in the all star game.

Vernon Wells is so terrible this year

.210 AVG, .241OPB, .380slg, 74ops+ (100 ops+ is an average player)

2011: 23 million
2012: 21 million
2013: 21 million
2014: 21 million

Wells can opt out after the 2011 season. I guess at the time of signing it seemed logical to have the option. Given that at this rate he probably would struggle to even sign a deal worth 3 million next year, the rest of that contract is looking pretty sweet. Would you opt out to maybe be a bench player for the yankees at minimum wage or be a bench player for 63 million? I know what I would choose. Screw the trophy at that salary.

Have you ever seen such an epicly backloaded contract like that? Anthopoulos is the GM of the year for unloading that contract.

I'm so glad we unloaded that guy and invested the money in Bautista instead. Very wise move. Bautista has been a machine the past two years.
