Pittsburgh Pirates are now 45-41. Last year they won their 45th game September 3rd...

CC is going to be named an All Star. CC is the next pitcher in line for the All Star team and will be named an All Star once a pitcher ahead of him pitches on Sunday, which 3 of the AL pitchers are scheduled to do. CC is scheduled to pitch Sunday too so he'll become an All Star but won't be eligible to play in the game since pitchers that start on Sunday can't play in the game.

Yeah, but he should be named on in the 1st place.

The thinking is what likely happened was that since CC was sixth on the player list for pitchers he was virtually assured of making the team since three pitchers ahead of him are scheduled to start on Sunday, so Ron Washington passed over him to guarantee David Price and C.J. Wilson, whom may have been lower on the list, were guaranteed to make the team. Managers don't get to choose replacements for pitchers who play on Sunday, it is based on how the players voted.

Cuddyer with 2 more RBIs to tie the game 2-2, I'd feel better about our chances to win this one if Liriano were having a good day and not a really wild day.

Actually, the manager picks the pitchers.

Jeez, Masterson is the "Master of his domain" on us so far tonight. That' why I hate when we have those offensive outbursts. The next game, our offense disappear.

I am pissed they sent Nova down. I really liked that guy.

Jair Jurrjens with another 1-run outing for the Braves, improving his record to 12-3. Is this guy gonna be the starting NL pitcher in the Allstar Game or is it gonna be Halladay?

Braves are kiling it right now with their outstanding pitching, especially Jurrjens. Even Uggla had a great game tonight for once. Still, I'm starting to think Atlanta could win 100 games this season and finish 5 or so games behind Philly.

Atlanta basically has the second best record in all of baseball right now. They've won like 13 of their last 16 or something crazy like that.

Uggla was bound to turn it around sometime and seems to be swinging a decent bat of late (as in the last 2 games )
Even if he hits .250 the rest of the way and Heyward chips in like we all know he can, that will be a much needed offensive boost mixed in with their already stellar pitching staff.

Braves are definitely a threat this year, should be a good battle for divisional supremacy with the Phills.

* Jeter is now only 3 hits away from 3000.

Wow, never thought I'd say ' thanks, you too' to a Phillies fan.

Based on how the pitching matchups are gonna fall, I give y'all a pretty big advantage, though. Second-year pitcher Brandon Beachy against arguably the greatest pitcher of this generation on Friday? Not the way I would've drawn it up.

I agree but if our bats don't work then the pitching will be moot. Too many games like that for us this year. Can't complain tho with all the injuries and lack of offense we are still #1.

Looks like Uggla and Schafer had nice games last night.

Good luck!

Baseball has been around since the late 1800s, no? I think I read that there have been 18,500 or so people who have played the game since then. Jeter will be only the 28th player in MLB history to reach the 3,000 hit mark. Can you believe that?
