Rain Delay tonight...hopefully they get to play. I'm waiting for Jeter to get his hit!
Yeah, bit of a pooper. I've had the game on in the background for the last hour, but so far nothing. I guess that's a positive though. If there was no chance of the rain letting up, they would've called it a long time ago, so maybe they're hoping to get it in.

Well, there it was. Ground ball past the first baseman, 2 minute standing ovation, Yankees ran onto the field to celebrate.

More like 3 mins lol. At least he can just concentrate on getting to the playoffs and not worrying about getting past milestones. It can be irritating to some players.

The Yankees need to come up with some other milestone that is supposedly a huge achievment to break (I only say that because nobody really knew about the Gehrig record until a few weeks ago when the Yankees started hyping it up). But ever since Jeter broke the record, the Yankees haven't been winning.... so find another record that someone might be able to beat by the end of the World Series, so they can keep winning again until then.

Sorry can't resist... I just hate the guy, I did when he was a Jay as well... baffling how he scored a contract like he did. Sure he had 18 wins last year but he never stole any victories with his inflated ERA and Walks... the Jays just happened to score alot of runs for him last season!

Anyway enjoy! I doubt he will be starting any playoff games!

I know it's not very Yankee-like to argue with umpires and throw your hat on the ground, but I actually liked the response to the ejections earlier today.

For those who missed it, a video can be seen here:

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?...=.jsp&c_id=mlb

The reason I think its great is that the Yankees could easily become complacent and coast into the playoffs with the best record, but this sort of emotion shows that they still take each game quite seriously.

A-Rod dropping an f-bomb at the end was one of my favorite parts. Wonder if Girardi will be fined for putting his hands on the crew chief.

Thanks for posting that link. I had a lot of homework yesterday and missed the game. I heard about the ejections this morning but didn't see the clip until now. Tough call but you can't take a pitch like that with 2 strikes. I heard to ump was calling bad pitches all day so I can see their frustration. Love to see Girardi earn his paycheck.

It was close, but I definitely think it was off the plate. Not as bad as some of the other bad calls this year, but still not a good one.

I wonder if it's a coincidence that the home plate ump for that game was the same guy who called Jeter out a month or two ago when trying to steal third.

If you remember, that was one of the rare times Jeter argued about a call, and later said after the game that the reason he was mad is because after telling the ump he got under the tag, the ump replied (and I'm paraphrasing here) "Doesn't matter, he didn't have to tag you. The throw beat you, so you're out." which obviously is not how the rules work.

Maybe this ump just has it out for the Yankees.

Yup..I remember and like you said...you never see Jeter argue. No one forgets in baseball...someone throws @ you...they'll more than likely retaliate in a later game. Girardi, I'm sure, remembered the bad call with Jeter and decided to get his moneys worth..especially since he got ejected. The ball was clearly off the plate but....you can't take a pitch like that on 2 strikes lol.

Oh, and according to A-Rod, the reason he was thrown out wasn't because he argued the call of the strike. He argued that, and then walked off, and played out in the field.

He got ejected the next inning, while sitting in the dugout.

The reason he gave is that he yelled "Yeah, keep talking to him" to the umpire, after noticing he was again chatting it up with the O's catcher between innings.

It's technically against the rules for an umpire to socialize with players on the field. A brief word here or there is obviously overlooked, but I guess A-Rod felt the ump was going too far.

Very nervous, I am, about Dice-K returning to the mound tonight for the Sox. Fortunately they have a little cusion in the wild card standings (4 games ahead of Texas last I checked).

Jays are playing some pretty uninspired ball so I won't be surprised if we lose and Halladay gets rocked.

Watch... if a Jay makes an error behind Halladay, he will give them a dirty look and then get all sooky and then start pitching bad.

It could be that time of the month for Halladay this evening haha. He's been like that alot since the trade dead line.

Days are numbered in a Jays jersey.

It was absolutely RIDICULOUS for those two lame brain Yankees to argue over a strike call. And a close strike call to boot too.

If he can get some swagger back before the post season it'll look good for the sox!

I can't watch the game tonight because it's on MY9..Direct Tv airs it but only through MLB extra innings. Happens about once a week...I get screwed...
