Don't look now but Dan Uggla has an active 17-game hit streak and a .200 batting average.

The Braves are still losing 3-0 in the 2nd, though; they're on their way to their fourth straight loss.

Oh great.. Philly is taking it to San Fran. Vance Worley is just ridiculously good. He'll probably improve to 7-1 with an ERA of barely 2.00 after this one. And he's their #4 starter.

I know right, it's like the Phillies have supplanted the Yankees as the villains of the MLB.

EDIT: Alright, another hit and an RBI for Dan Uggla. 2-2 to start this game and now he's above .200

I don't know. If Oswalt isn't on the DL, I'd say he's their number #4. Either way, it's bad news for everyone else. And don't discount the Cy Young-caliber season Hamels has resurrected. I hate those punks! I still think the Giants in a series could beat them.

Ya, they definately have a shot. Especially so if it's a short 5 game divisional series. You only need 3 really good starters to compete with anyone in a playoff series, and Atlanta and San Francisco both have that.

Same this happened last year, Braves were really good, than all of a sudden fell off in the second half, i really think it has to do with heat and humid weather out in Atlanta, when they got their new stadium they should of invested in a retractable dome

Man, not a good game for us, this Vance Whorley kid is amazing! Lincecum was supposed to start today, but got sick and will miss a few days at least... As of right now theres no way this Giants team can compete with the Philies or even the Braves in a 5 or 7 game series.. Our offense sucks! please make a trade!!!

Inside the park HR by Chase Utley was pretty sweet!

Still trying to figure out whos pitching better this year for the Giants/Philies, both pitchers coming out of no where..

Ryan Vogelsong: 18 GS, 8-1, 75K's with a 2.10 ERA

Vance Whorley: 17 GS, 7-1, 53K's with a 2.02 ERA

Both pretty amazing if you ask me...

Man, things are really bat in Minny. I just found out that Twin fans have been booing Joe Mauer. At Target field and ath the home town kid. Wow.

I think you might be right; the long season takes a toll in the oppressive Atlanta conditions...

And to make matters worse, the Braves are in an extra innings affair with no position-players left on the bench... and Brian McCann had to leave the game with a presumed oblique injury... and Jordan Schafer batting with an injured hand (because he was the last position-player left) just got hit by a pitch on his injured hand...

Well, he didn't start tonight's game because he would've gone up against CJ who is 1-19 lifetime against. He did end up pinch hitting and catching for their closers tonight and I think he was the one who drove in the go-ahead run in the 9th. Even if he is in a tough stretch, I don't see how anyone can boo that dude.

That's probably why the home-plate umpire blew that call, he wanted to go home...

That was my thought as well, because that call is inexcusable. It wasn't even close, the catcher tagged him a full foot before the plate and didn't even bother waiting for a call because he was so clearly out.

What gets me is that the Braves player was convinced he was out too. He basically stopped trying to get to home plate with any kind of urgency when he got tagged. It took like 3 seconds after he was called safe for his enthusiasm to return, it took him that long to react...

I sense a top ten blown calls segment on sportscenter tonight after that pathetic call last night.

The Pirates had an easy double play to boot because Proctor had done a hilarious faceplant after running out of the batter's box on the play.

As a Phillies fan, I have been enjoying what Worley has done so far. At the same time, his numbers indicate that he is due to come back to Earth at some point--his BABIP, FB/HR, and strand rates are all unsustainable. That said, anyone with an ERA around 2.00 is going to have a hard time sustaining that. I'm hoping his regression will keep him pitching at the level of a #4 or #5 starter, rather than regression to #6 or #7...
