Not that bad actually. I only needed a seat, beers, and exciting players. Thank goodness we had this guy called Vladimir Guerrero.

And at least they were selling Labatt Blue, unlike Bell Center(NHL) with their Molson crap...

Me too.

Sitting in the bleachers nearly starting a fight with the Mets fans. They had security in our section for the second half of the game. My brother's drunken friends were also heckling the crap out of Tony Tarasco.

Best part about that game? A smoking hot chick casually walking around not wearing a top sporting the Blue Lagoon look and featured on the video screen.

Vlad Guerrero? In 1994 you had one of the best teams in MLB history that didn't win a World Series. I've always been a Braves fan but it was ashame the Expos potential dynasty was destroyed by the 1994 strike. The Braves had a great team that year and still trailed the Expos by about 6 games when the strike happened.

Wow, I didn't realize that Omar Vizquel is up to 2,865 hits. With as good of shape as he keeps himself in, it's not unthinkable for the 44-year-old to reach the 3,000 plateau... He'd have to hit about 120 next season or stick around for a season after that.

I thought he retired years ago. From his stats this season he isn't playing much anymore. This is his 23rd season in MLB and he's played in 4 different decades. The guy has a lot of hits and 11 Gold Gloves at SS. He really should be taken seriously for the HOF.

Yeah the '94 strike was sickening to a lot of Yankees fans at the time. Our team had been largely irrelevant and pathetic for more than a decade, then they turned it around and had the AL's best record and a huge lead in the east at the time of the strike. The rest beyond that is history, but at the time it felt like it might be our only shot at greatness.

I obviously feel much more for Expos fans. What a way to shit on one of the best teams of the 90s. I often wonder what a world championship would have done for the franchise.

The guy I always felt bad for in NY was Don Mattingly. He was always one of my favorite players, despite being a Yankee. The guy's career ran from 1982-1995 with the Yankees. The poor guy literally started his career just after the great Yankee years in the late-70's and ended his career one year before the team started their 1996-2001 dynasty.

And his luck as a manager sucks too. The poor guy finally gets his first big gig and it happens under one of the worst owners in MLB history in Frank McCourt.

AJ Burnett is unable to last five innings and qualify for the win despite the Yankees putting a 13-spot up on the White Sox... wow.

Dan Uggla has something like a 25 game hitting streak for Atlanta and he's still hitting just .215. Amazing. Though I am thrilled to see him finally coming around.

ESPN says he has the worst batting average of anyone with a 25-game hitting streak ever. By 50 points. LOL

Obviously at this point his season-long batting average is kinda irrelevant. Also worth noting is that he's played the most games of any Braves starter this year, having missed only one game. With that many at-bats, it takes awhile to budge the ol' batting average even when you hit better than .360 for a month.

yeah his BA went up like 40 points this month alone. If he keeps this up the rest of the way he might end up where he usually does....around .265 or so.

He's literally had a Jekyll and Hyde sort of season, where 80 games in he's worse than terrible and now he's swinging like he's Babe Ruth.
Either way my MLB Fantasy Team is thankful he finally woke up.

And you see the way he gave the ball to Girardi and tore off his uniform as he left the dugout?

He is a mental case I swear.

AJ is garbage... i remember being so pumped when we got him too... he led the league in strikeouts the year before (im almost positive?)...1st year he underperformed but i still had faith in him, because the guy still does have nasty stuff.... he just cant put it all together for a game...hes a head case and once hes not pitching great, you might as well take him out...

ive lost all faith in him these days

I'd love to see Visquel reach 3,000 hits, but I don't think its going to happen, especially if he isn't playing every day.

Speaking of him, and the 1994 strike, the Cleveland Indians are another team that were quite nicely in contention when the strike went down.

Hard to feel too bad for any team, though, since is a worker's strike. The only people to feel bad for are the fans.

(Speaking of 90s Cleveland players reaching milestones, Jim Thome is only 3 homers away from the coveted 600 mark...)

I had forgotten our over-the-hill big bat was a former Indian, kind of forgot stuff like that once the substance abuse allegations came out.
