Against the best of my better judgement, I'll be rooting for the Yanks much of this week as they have a series against the barely-behind-us Angels. I don't know how Weaver's suspension appeal is going but if he is pitching and then of course you've got Santana, who just tossed a no-hitter, I'm not so sure the Yankees will do as well as I'd hope against those damn Angels. But I'll definitely be rooting against said Angels.

Longest Atlanta hit streak in 35 years.

Atlanta's offense is starting to look pretty fierce with Brian McCann still out on the DL.

Kinda funny too considering the likely Wild Card is coming from the NL East. Atlanta is on pace for 94 wins, yet we're 8 games behind Philly. In any division other than the NL East or AL East we'd be in first place.

Tell that to the 2001 Oakland A's. 102 wins and they finish 14 games out of first in their division.

You never know. In both 1997 and 2003 Atlanta won the NL East while the Florida Marlins finished >8 games behind the Braves both seasons taking the Wild Card. Both of those seasons Florida ended up winning the World Series. You never know what can heppen in playoff time.

My concern is that the Braves haven't won a playoff round since 2001.

At least you're going to the playoffs. In 1985, my Yankees had the 2nd best record in the majors and they didn't go the to the playoffs. Why? because the team with the best record in the majors was in our division (Toronto). There wasn't any wild card back then.

I swear the Braves were around in the early 90's just to torture Barry Bonds. In 1991 and 1992 we beat his Pirates teams in 7 games each NLCS, in 1992 on the last at-bat thanks to his poor fielding on the Cabrera hit.

Then in 1993 he joined the Giants. That was the last season before the Wild Card. San Francisco won 103 games and failed to make the playoffs because Atlanta won 104. Talk about bad luck. I still miss those great winner take all playoff races. The 1993 Giants-Braves was amogn the best playoff races in sports history.

Kinda weird how that 1985 season worked. It was the last year Bobby Cox managed the Blue Jays. Cox left Toronto after a great 1985 season to take the Braves GM gig. He spent 4 years as GM accumulating a ton of young talent then named himself manager in 1990, and the rest is history.

He just scored an infield single for the second consecutive game; the big man can hustle when he needs to! His 30-game hit streak now equals the longest hit streak in the majors all season (Andre Ethier, whose batting average is 85 points better LOL) and is one hit away from tying the all-time Atlanta record.

But the story of the game so far isn't Uggla's hit but Brandon Beachy's pitching; he has struck out 10 batters through 5 innings, and his precision, location, and breaking ball action are all stunning tonight. Braves up 2-0 heading to the 6th.
