Naps with a timely 3-run homer. This dude Bedard loves to take his time. Our guys rarely step out of the box because they're waiting for so long but tonight, they've done it more than I can remember them doing it. And our commentators hate it even more. They are riding this guy.

The thing is, I remember last year, more so than this year, a lot of peeps were grumbling the same thing about CJ. The guy who's held these Sox scoreless thus far. He's pitching a damn fine game. I knew it as soon as he delivered Adrian Gonzalez 3 straight swinging strikes in the 6th.

It looks like the AL MVP isn't as clean cut as I though. Curtis Granderson is making a strong case for himself.

Yeah i think it's between Granderson, A.Gonzalez, and Bautista. It's more likely Gonzalez or Granderson who will win seeing that they both will make the playoffs.

Boy, Granderson sure is taking advantage of that short right field, it suits his swing perfectly.

That repeated stepping out on Bedard had to have been in Texas' scouting report on him. Multiple batters were stepping out of the box to disrupt him.

Top 11 in AL in Wins above Replacement(WAR):
  1. Bautista
  2. Verlander
  3. Pedroia
  4. Weaver, J.
  5. Ellsbury
  6. Gonzalez, A.
  7. Becket, J.
  8. Zobrist
  9. Sabathia, C.C.
  10. Romero, R.
  11. Cabrera, M./Granderson

I find it tough to give it to Bautista because of the good player/bad team thing and I'm sure the sign stealing controversy will keep some votes from going to him. Dennis Eckersly was the last pitcher to win the MVP and that was in 1992, so a pitcher seems unlikely. Adrian Gonzalez has still been hitting, but his power is gone since the All-Star break and he no longer leads the league in RBIs. If I had a vote, I'd give it to Ellsbury. He's been a terrific table setter this year for the Sox and could have a 30-30 season. He's been the most clutch player for the Sox this season, including back-to-back walk-off games.

D-backs are playing terrible right now and have lost 6 in a row, Giants are only 1 game out, NL West is still up for grabs, All im asking for is 3-4 runs per game and we'll probably win, these next few games will be key for us taking over the division 3 vs the Pads than 3 vs the Astros.... Than 3 big ones next weekend vs the D-Backs ...

Same thing happened when the Yanks played the Sox....Beckett was pitching and the commentators (mainly B. Valentine) were going on and on about how long he was taking to throw a pitch and they were absolutely right... they did the math and it was 30 something seconds per pitch which is unreal....the "rule" is 12 seconds i believe which obviously isnt enforced

Earmoths! Matt Holliday leaves game after bug invades ear

Quote:
The St. Louis Cardinals outfielder was just minding his own business in Busch Stadium's left field when a moth flew into his right ear and refused to come back out. The inner-ear invasion left Holliday in pain and he immediately left the field under the care of a trainer.

Holliday was taken into a dark room and a light was put to his ear, trying to lure the moth out, Cardinals spokesman Brian Bartow said. When that didn't work, an instrument was used to pry the live moth out of Holliday's ear.

Holliday was not available for comment but appeared to be OK, Bartow said.

"He had a moth fly into his ear, deep into his ear. I don't even know what happened to it," Cardinals manager Tony La Russa said.

Why? That's not fair to Bautista. This guy works so hard and does everything he can at the box, on base and in the field.

I'll show you how inept his team is. After a walk, he then jumped out of the way to avoid the tag to advance to second on what should have been an easy double play. Then he steals third. Net result: He's stranded because of incompetent hitters on his team. What is he supposed to do? Hit a homerun everytime? Even when he has some hitting slumps he still manages a obp over .400 during those spans.

Don't ignore Bautista because of his crap team. They'd be among the worst in the AL without him.

I didn't realize they were still above .500

Perhaps this is the year that he stands a shot. The Red Sox have so many candidates that there will undoubtedly be some "if they have so many MVPs, do they really have A MVP" talk, and the Yankees could get into some of that with Granderson and Texeira. Throw in the outstanding year so far from two pitchers, Weaver and Verlander, and that could muddy the field even further. It would certainly be interesting to hear the arguments about the two pitchers, should Toronto end with a better record than both of those teams(possible as they are only 4 and 3.5 games back, respectively).

Those 3 Bo Sox players will end up splitting votes. The same might happen with Curtis and Tex (I have a feeling that Curtis will get a larger portion though).

Another person (from the A's) has hit a ball into the upper deck in Yankee Stadium (the 1st person to do it was Russell Brannyn when he was with the Seattle Mariners last year).

Kirk Gibson is doing a heck of a job managing the D-backs. If they win the NL west, he should be a shoe in for NL manager of the year.

God the Mets suck. I was hoping maybe they'd steal a game or two from Philly this series to help Atlanta. Instead the Mets lose 10-0 last night and trail 5-0 tonight. That team has completely given up over the past month, going 5-16 in their last 21 games.

EDIT - Not Philly leads the Mets 9-0. They've outscored the Mets 19-0 in two games...

This had the makings of a blowout with us not getting a hit in two innings and the Sox scoring 6 runs in 3. Now, we've worked it to a 6-3 game with 2 on, 2 out. Let's go!!!

What a coincidence, we got back into the game as well (6-3 A's btw).
