It really is, should be a great final week of baseball! Even though the Giants are pretty much done, i look forward to the playoffs this year, it just seems so wide open with really no favorites...

Boston should have stocked up on quality starting pitching last spring rather then focus on building an allstar hitting lineup.

I mean outside of Beckett and Lester they have no other legit starter.
Either way I never thought the Yankees or the Redsox would win the World Series anyways, they lack in pitching and we all know pitching wins Championships.

It's not really a week. The season ends on Wed. It's more of a half week.

Buchholz got hurt and they all figured Lackey would be 2007 Lackey again. Pre-season prjections showed Boston had a very solid starting rotation.

Yeah, the "experts" were going with this "Phillies/Red Sox WS so much it was like it was written in stone. That's why the games are played on the field and not on paper.

I'm sure the vast majority of GM's would have been more than pleased with a staff like that and gone for hitting also if they had Epstein's job during the past offseason. Hindsight is 20/20.

Yeah but people calling them a "superteam" at the beginning of the season looking back now looks a bit silly.

Maybe The Yankees will sweep Boston in their doubleheader tonight.

I hope they do not do 2 wild cards in each league(next year or whenever). I personally think they are only wanting to doing that. So New York and Boston are ALWAYS in the playoffs.

At least with only 1 wildcard in each league. I can hope that Boston or Yankees wont make the playoffs. With 2, its 100% that it will always be both teams in the playoffs.

* As you can tell, I can not stand either team.*

Well hold on. After their horrible start they were a super team for several months. Silly to brilliant and now back to silly.

So I noticed Atlanta lost 3-0 to the Nats. Cards won 3-2 over the Cubs. That means The Cards are 1 GB from the Wild Card.

How Terrible have the Braves and Red Sox been the past month or so, could go down and 2 of the biggest collapses ever

Unless I made mistakes.

Cardinals are 8-4 against Houston
Atlanta is 6-9 against Phillies

Even though we play an easy team and Atlanta plays Phillies. With the the Cardinals, anything can happen(example: Winning 6-2 in the top of the 9th against the mets. We give up 6 runs and lose 8-6.). Tony does a poor job managing. I like him but he...

Pulls guys too early when they do good.
Keeps guys in too long when they dont.

Not looking good for the Braves who hold a 1 game wild card lead over the Cards, Braves play a 3 game set with the Phils, and Cards play 3 games vs the Astros.. Ouch!

Sweet, are you going to any playoffs games? I still regret not going to any Giants playoffs games last year, ticket premiums were just ridiculous

Tonight, the Giants will set a record for the highest single-season attendance in the franchise's 128-year history -- 3,303,000 surpassing the 3,277,244 set in 2001. Tonight also marks the 79th consecutive sell-out of the 2011 season.

My family and I account for 4 of the 3+ million of fans that showed up this year

That's always the case. I won't be going to any this year (I didn't go to any last year either). I've only been to two Yankee playoff games in my life (game 3 of the 2001 ALCS vs the Mariners & 1 of the 2009 ALCS vs the Angels).
