Verlander is a BEAST! but hey, we got 4 runs off the guy and cant really ask for anything more....and like wingman said, this isnt an excuse....but my god, CC was squeezed last night...i said it in the first inning that hes not getting ANY calls...and noticed a bunch of pitches that Verlander was getting, CC did not...but hey, what are ya gonna do...

and i dont think its over yet...back against the wall, sure...but if our bats wake up from their slumber, get an early lead, i think we'll be all right... then i like our chances in a rubber match.... gotta get there first though

It's not over yet. If it was 2-0, sure, but it's only 2-1. I'm not looking forward to the ALCS just yet.

Its not over by a long shot, Porcello Vs Burnett is going to be a good match up. You do not have a 300 million dollar payroll and expect to rollover and die. The Yankees should play with heart tonight, possibly enough to match a younger Tigers team that is Hungry. The one main thing the Tigers have going for them is this is not Yankee Stadium, those little 300 ft pooch shots to right field will not work as was commented last night by the announcers.

Truthfully I wish we had Granderson covering our outfield tonight, and that is the one thing the Yankees have aside from that insane infield minus Jeter, that they have going for them. It is an elimination game tonight for the Yankees with a well rested bullpen of Rafael Soriano, David Robertson and Mariano Rivera, and if you don't think the Yankees will use starters to forgo elimination you think wrong. I would bet you if he had to CC would even throw again today, in an elimination game when your back is against the wall EVERYONE will be ready to go.

AJ vs. Current Tigers in his career:

Rick Porcello vs. Current Yankees in his career:

I am with Wingman, hope for the best, and expect the worst. AJ when he has command of his fastball and breaking ball can be nasty, but he also has a tendency to implode. Girardi needs to have a quick hook tonight if AJ doesn't have it. Girardi needs to put the team in the best position to win the game and if that means pulling AJ well then he should pull AJ!

The bigger under shadow of this series has been Tex and A-Rod. While both have been superb defensively, their offense is nowhere to be found. I know A-Rod is probably still hurting, but Tex has no excuse. Popping out or striking out does not help the team. Hell I'd honestly bench Tex today and let Posada play first (hell he's been on a tear this series and has earned it), but Girardi doesn't have the balls.

Torre took risks benching players in 1996 and look what happened.

Why don't they start Nova? clearly he's a better option than AJ

hit it on the head there...IMO....CC should not have even gone back into the game for the last inning he pitched.... Girardi had someone getting warmed up in the bullpen the inning before becuase CC was not looking very good every inning imo....

but in regards to Tex and Arod... they have done NOTHING this postseason but i cant see taking them out of the line up....their defense is too good and you just have to hope their bats will come around

Tex is overrated IMO, if you look at his BA it is quite low (.248) and his HR totals are the result of the short porch in right field. I mean c'mon Granderson hit 41 HR, no way he even gets to 35HR in any other ball park.

As for A-Rod he is on the decline, he still a good player but nowhere near as dangerous as he used to be.

Why? because he was 11-11 with an ERA over 5 and a crazy high WHIP. Nova was 16-4 with a 3.70 ERA and clearly the Yankees feel more comfortable with him on the mound as shown by his W/L record.

As for Colon he regressed badly in the 2nd half after posting a strong first half to the season. His stamina comes into question especially at his age he may only last 4-5 innings. But I guess for the yankees anyone is available in an elimination game.

no, i know Nova is a stud... i assume they want him for the close out game...but yea, Colon fell off a bit... but has had a lot of rest at this point and my be a better gamble than Burnett?

either way, id have them both at the ready for relief and see what happens... use everything weve got
