So should I assume Rivera pitches the 8th and 9th? That's what I'd do if I'm Girardi.

We're done. The season's a failure for us, so see you next year. Wingman1977 out.

Good old reliable A-Rod. Always willing and able to help the opposing team out.

Not a Yankees fan, but sorry your team lost. The last two games of this series were truly odd. Yankees win with Burnett away and lost at home with Nova. The rainout Game 1 also played a role. I thought for sure NY would rally, but A-Rod and others failed to deliver when it mattered. Should be a close ALCS. Hope Philly loses tomorrow.

Ya, the guy has always been that way - good for huge regular season but not reliable in big games.

It's probably better to end it now anyway, because there's no way in hell this team beats Texas in the ALCS. Hopefully we can cut bait with some expiring contracts, re-tool a bit, and get back at it in '12.
[Show spoiler]Is there any way we can get A-Rod to opt out again?

I'll be rooting for whoever wins the ALCS, as I can't stand any of the NL teams left; and I can't wait for the Verlander/Hamilton at-bats. I wonder if Leyland would retire if Detroit won it all.

I liked our chances more against the Yanks than I do against the Tigers. I may be over-reacting because of Verlander but I think people underestimate the depth of their rotation. Scherzer's no slouch. Neither is Fister. I hope CJ comes out with good stuff this time. And then there's the issue of game 2 being on at the same time as the Packers game Sunday night. WTF? What am I going to do?

Detroit won the season series 6-3 against Texas, but of course all bets are off in the playoffs. Should be a good series.

Fox has never been the most intelligent when it came to scheduling, Game 1 8pm Sat (Ohio St vs Nebraska is on at 8pm as well), Game 2 8pm Sunday (GB vs Atl 8pm) those are going to be 2 potentially very good football games.

No team scares me as much as Philly and the Brewers do. Texas is good but we know for a fact they cant play at Comerica Park, long as Det wins 1 of the 2 down in Texas we should be fine, I wouldn't see the series returning to Texas at that point.

I am excited for the series against Texas should be a very entertaining one as they have one hellva lineup.

MLB sets the schedule for the League Championship Series, not Fox (or TBS). The schedule always called for the ALCS to be played on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and for the NLCS on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday, Monday.

I didn't mean to complain about the scheduling since the Rangers and Packers aren't anywhere near the same market. But I'm probably going to have to choose. Unless the Rangers game is on early. There still is no set start time.

Fister and Verlander are scary. Scherzer is nothing special, I wouldn't be scared to face him in the post-season, his stats are decidedly Major League average. The Tiger's bullpen was just bad, if the Rangers can survive long enough to get Fister and Verlander out of the games they should be ok.

In my opinion the record between the two teams doesn't matter at all, not just because it's the postseason, but because even the most recent games were two months ago. Detroit is a much better team than they were during those games, but Texas is actually healthy now, which they weren't during any of the Tigers games earlier.

Still, two excellent starting pitchers and Verlander going 1-4-7. I predict Tigers victory.

Same here. The team I'd like to see win it is Milwaukee. Though I'm fine with any team except for Philly.
