Interleague play is one of the most annoying things MLB has done anyway IMO. Baseball far was more fun when the AL and NL only met in the World Series. But then again the Divisional Series match ups are a waste of time to me too. The fact that there were only 4 divisions and you had to win the division to make the playoffs made the regular season more meaningful than having silly little best of 5 first round series.
I don't mind interleague but they do need to limit it to one week out of the season. Having it spread out for what two weeks at two different times of the year is draining. I do see your point that the All Star Game and World Series were really special before interleague play.

Unless you have a balanced schedule "best record" just flat isn't indicative of the best team. It might be, but it's not even close to being guaranteed.

I actually don't agree with your >75%. I'd say a large % of fans would prefer the NFL/College B-ball "neutral site" concept over either team getting home field advantage. If only it were more practical due to travel issues.

Of course with baseball it has other issues due to the nature of half-innings (someone having to go last).

Wonder if Greinke's social anxiety/depression issues are effecting his postseason play. I can sympathize since I suffer from the same issues. This season is his first time pitching in the playoffs and he's been awful ever start. His ERA in 3 starts is 7.07 and he's pitching badly tonight.

So what does everyone think? Texas closes it out tonight?

It looks like Texas has been saving up all post-season for this one half inning. 9 runs. Young getting two doubles in the inning. Everyone in the lineup got on base. 4 Detroit pitchers. Totally ruined Leyland's plan of using Max for 5 innings...

Texas sure can flip the switch when they want to. You blink and a 0-2 deficit turns into a 9-2 lead. Congrats to the Rangers, first repeat ALCS champs since 2001.

This has gotten silly. Save some of this for the World Series Rangers!

This postseason is going exactly like 2010 for Texas.

- Beat Tampa in the 1st round
- Win the ALCS in 6 games, scoring a ton of runs

Guess this means their bats go silent and they get their ass kicked in the World Series in 5 games again.

I'd be happy with either the Brewers or Rangers winning for the first time. I have a funny feeling the NL champion wins the WS though.

I'm very surprised that someone thinks Texas looked at all like last year's version.

Last year's Rangers relied on starting pitching because by and large their bullpen was awful.

Last year's Rangers had a good starting lineup hitting, but this year's is way better. Last year's Rangers 7-8-9 were "easy" outs, this year's Rangers don't have any bad hitters.

Last year's Rangers had a heck of a time with Vlad Guerrero in the World Series because he simply couldn't play the field anymore but was one of their best hitters. That isn't a problem at all this year.

Last year's Giants had better starting pitching than either the Brewers or Cards from this year, and neither ballpark is as pitcher friendly as the Giant's ballpark is.

Will the Rangers win the World Series? I have no idea. But I think it's an awfully superficial glance at the games this year to claim the Rangers have had the same postseason as last year.

Oh I know it's different. Was just kidding around about that. I do think the NL champion will be a weaker opponent than last year's Giants who had a stacked starting staff. I also think that despite no Cliff Lee the Rangers are also better than they were in 2010.

That is why I think the Rangers are going to win the World Series and it is their best chance to win it since they might not go back to the World Series next year

I believe C.J. Wilson is the only big name guy they have entering free agency after this season. Texas isn't going away anytime soon.

You really think he'll leave? I think he'll be at least tempted to stay in Texas, they have a great thing started. He would, of course, have to take less money but he seems happy there.

Old-School Simpsons references never let me down. Texas is taking it this time. Milwaukee and St-Louis have good pitching but nowhere near the level of the Giants.

I expect the bats to continue. Too many sluggers on the team to not get it done. Napoli, Hamilton, Kinsler, Beltre and Cruz can hit a homerun or double anytime. Then there's Michael Young on top of that.

No, I really don't. I think he'll re-sign. But even if he did leave I think Texas would still be atop the AL West. I think the Yankees were already making noise about going after Wilson. But Texas responded by bringing up going after Sabathia. My guess is both players gat a big raise but stay where they are.

Rangers offense is just scary, better than last year, sure glad the Giants faced them last year and not this year...
